Roger, Foust and I are getting a good chuckle out of the whining about BG this week

I remember a time Ligonier Valley was faced with playing mighty Bishop Mccort in the district championship. They strapped on the helmets , went out and put one on them.

So by the rationale of multiple members, BG is good because they recruit. Even if no one can name a transfer in the system.

So by this rationale, the coop of BM and BC which covers probably 15 school districts should be the most ridiculously powerful team in all of D6. Interesting. It does not seem that BM / BC is that good of a team. I don't see them ranked in the state and this weekend in all likely hood is the end of 2024.

BG won their first title in 2014, 10 years ago. If you’re a parent in Altoona who wants your son to have a successful football career, are you enrolling them at Altoona or BG? At that point it’s not “recruiting” in the college sense, but BG is certainly benefitting from the open boundary vs other schools who have way more regulation.

Carroll and Mccort have won as much as anyone in D6 but can't even get enough to field their own teams, this whole argument does not hold much water outside of BG. With Westmont and Johnstown down in a bad way, wouldn't Mccort be picking up every available athlete from those schools. Blacklick fans have spent years complaining about all the players they have lost to BC. Central is living in the basement. I guess those parents are sending all their kids to Mccort and Carroll like every one in Altoona , Holidaysburg and Bellwood are sending their kids to BG.

Considering McCort has just 2 seniors on its football team, I expect them to be decent next year. And once they have momentum that’s all it takes.

As for CC, most parents can’t drive their kids to McCort because of the commute and BC doesn’t offer any discount or “lift scholarships” to their athletes anymore so it’s either drive 30 minutes or pay tuition.

BG is in Altoona so there isn’t that added commute
