I just hope if somehow I find myself facing a jury for murder, NONE of you are on it. You take an argument that has been hammered to death on this board for years with no concrete outcome, and just keep on, and on, and on, ad infinitum. We all have our opinions pro and con about McCort and their like. Unless the PIAA suddenly wakens from their self-induced coma this issue will never be resolved. That being said, lets all pretend we're seated at a poker table. Play the hand you were dealt.

Sgt is right indeed as this article just outlines the direction Coach Salem would like to take this team. This essay confirms the much debated issue that mccort does recruit. Does coach salem go school to school talking with prosepective student athletes at public schools no, but he does go to the catholic schools. My main question is if an athlete believes he has the ability to play at a high level and hasnt played against relative talent why doesnt he go to Prep school a la a few of last years seniors? Is this a bad option? Even for students who attend mccort in its current conidtion? Or does coach salems evaluation of talent and his ability to get players to college make this a waste of time? Since you spend much time evaluating talent would you suggest any of this years area seniors try the post grad year to see the relative talent?

I'm not sure if the essay confirms whether or not BM recruits. But when you take in GOOD local football players JUST for their senior year, it shows you are willing to do anything to gain an unfair advantage over your opponents.

Do you question if there is recruiting going on when Westmont's or Johnstown's head coach talks to his junior high squad? NO. It is the same thing. You don't seem to understand that the catholic grade schools in the area are somewhat of McCort's elementary and junior high. Kids can still go to the other public schools after leaving these CATHOLIC grade schools or the can go to the CATHOLIC high school. It is not wrong and it is not recruiting. Is that hard to understand?

In response to kindom's statement about going to the catholic grade schoools...This is no longer a relevant issue. There is currently (for the past 2 seasons) a 7th and 8th grade football squads that wears the red and gold and ARE part Bishop McCort. So you're suggesting BM is so desperate that they recruit themselves? Nice. Know your facts

Thank you for the info, it seems that this would help them to attract even more so those students who are attending their parish school, but wish to attend high school within their district. Has mccort been able to keep all of their kids that live in westmont that play for a catholic school? It seems that with the rise of richland and someset this may hurt mccorts ability to sway those students who decide which school to go to strictly based on football.

Actually the numbers continue to drop in the parochial system.(The reason BM is moving to 'A' and the league between all of the grade schools couldnt even field 4 teams in 7th and 8th grade combined) Instead, they decided to join the LHAC and play the same schedule as the varsity program.
Actually, even less kids decide to play, your guess is as good as mine, probably has something to do with bitterness between the 'rival' schools.
This year BC wasnt even able to field a 7th grade program..so the numbers arnt just falling in Johnstown.

let me just say that most kids from McCort are pricks so why send our children to play for a football team that can't even win the first round of the state playoffs just so they can get a better chance for a scholorship. To get one you need to stand out as an amazing player not play for a team that's good this is what happened for Brad Kanuch do you think westmont had a better than mediocre team when he played I don't think so.
