Bishop Guilfoyle at Somerset Official Game Thread

I dont think size matters. Not today anyway. BG came in and took care of business. They were the better team. Its just silly to start knocking somerset for their 9 wins they dominated every team this year just like BG. They had a rough night and BG played solid football and made some mistakes also. But they capatlized on somersets. Somerset did not take advantage. So full credit to the A team that kicked the AAA teams teeth out or whatever he said. But to say they should move conferences because they are triple A. Where would they go that is logical?

I said on page one that I wasn't drinking the Somerset Kool-aid. The only thing is I had BG giving up and scoring more points. About the spread I was expecting. Good game purple. Stay focused and your D6 s best shot

Nothing was said about Sometset needing to play in other conferences or teams of equal size back when the were horrible for so long. The big school turns into a beast and people get upset. No shame losing to this BG team. IMO I think they will be facing Clairton in the end. Such a strong defense. No doubt Somerset is a good team, but BG had a good draft class that has been playing together. Like said before, pulling from the Altoona area helps

About what I expected although I did predict Somerset would score more points (I predicted 28-13 BG) but I wasn't surprised. The one aspect of BG that is under-appreciated is their lines. Berger (68) is a beast who along with Wolf and the Leamer boys (one a freshman) make this team go. Everyone knows their skill guys but I continue to be impressed by the play up front.

I know they'll get ripped by the whole public/private debate but BG players really should be credited for their work ethic, dedication, and talent. Many of them were forced to play as freshmen on a team that got crushed and was 1-9. They and their coaches stuck with it, took their lumps along the way, and have grown in to a very formidable team. They've all come up together and are all products of the BG system. I've criticized all the transfers that happen in other sports at BG (you can guess which one) in the past but am very happy for this group of young men because they've accomplished everything they have the correct way.

Good luck to a Somerset (and all area schools - how about Coach Franco and the boys!!) in the play-offs. They are a fine team with much to be proud of with back-to-back 9 win regular seasons. I can't wait to watch the play-offs throughout the area in the coming weeks.

BG certainly should not be ripped for winning the LHAC. That is the appropriate league for them to play in. The district playoffs, of course, is a totally different story, however, it must be pointed out that only two schools like them have won a state title dating back 25 years.

Great game played by two hard nosed teams. Take nothing away from Somerset. They were literally inches away from making this a different game from the missed pass on the failed field goal to the missed int that could have gone for six but somehow made its way to the BG rb. If those 2 plays go Somersets way it's a different game but they didn't. Cudos to both teams. I do agree that BG is a real contender after seeing them live. I'm hoping both blairsville and BG make the d6 finals. Do I think BG should win going away in that game? Probably yes. But I also feel like that game could be very very close.

Nice win for Bishop Guilfoyle. Like I posted with the numbers, BG did more playing the same schedule. Was it splitting hairs? Maybe. But it proved to be true.

Now how about those fools saying Bishop Guilfoyle was a "2 man team" looked like a few other guys scored in this game.
