Clarion is not playing next week.TheButlerDidIt wrote:Great game. Play of the game was the pick 6 by BG, changed the whole complexion of the game. BG's QB could have easily thrown 3 picks, 2 were dropped, was not really impressed with him throwing the ball, although he did complete some clutch passes in the 4th quarter. Overall a great game, I can't see BG beating Clarion though especially if the continue to be mistake prone.
It ain't over until it's over.

I am amazed at the lack of respect some of you people are giving Clairton. I've seen both of these teams play. I was at the Bg/South game last night. If you think that team is going to beat Clairton playing the way they did you are in for a rude awakening. You talk about BG having two D1 players...Clairton has possibly 4. BG had a hell of a time stopping Brag...Clairton has at least 3 guys just as fast as him. BG's QB was sloppy, and if not for a few dropped picks it's South playing Clairton. I don't want to hear about the Somerset game...a higher class doesn't make you a better team. The good news is they get to play it out next week.

Nobody is really disrespecting Clairton, it's simply not their best team in their recent run of success. They've been sloppy with the ball, have given up plenty of big plays this year. The 2012 Clairton team would beta this 2014 Clairton team with ease, anyone that has watched both absolutely knows that.
I will say, you will have a tough time coming on here and trying to play the "lack of respect" card for 4 time state championship team, from the WPIAL no less. If any team is going to be disrespected and overlooked this week it will be Bishop Guilfoyle. We all know that.

2012's defense was better, no question about that. 2012 had better individual talent. No question about that. But this Clairton offense in 2014 is better than the offenses at any point during Clairtons run as a team collectively. The numbers support that. The eyes test supports that. This scheme, this O Coordinator Liotta they have, that is the difference. I guarantee you Clairton would have lost that Neshannock game with the offensive scheme from 2009-2012. I promise. Everyone keeps saying Clairton is beatable...well...until they are actually beaten that statement really doesn't hold water does it? Dont forget, the seniors on this Clairton team have now been to Hershey in 3 of their 4 years. They are not scrubs...
Re: Bishop Guilfoyle vs South Williamsport thread
I'd say the 2014 offense is far more dynamic/diverse than the offenses during the 09-12 run. This team can hit you in so many different ways with more weapons. Now, I think the 2014 defense isn't as good as those teams, especially the 2011 defense.
I do think BG can attack a few of those weaknesses especially if they go zone-read 50% or more on offense and do playaction out of the zone-read to that big boy #17. The thing is, Clairton is going to get to 40, does BG have enough to keep up like Neshannock did and make this a shootout?

Nobody is saying they are scrubs. Everyone in the state knows what they can do, but very few people in the state knows what BG can do. BG is 15-0 themselves. They have great talent too. They play good team defense. They force turnovers and don't make many themselves. Trust me, this is the best team Clairton will play all year long. There's not even a doubt about it.
I just don't think anyone on here is going to hand Clairton the trophy just yet, because BG is a really good team. Clairton very well may win, and heck they probably should win, but Bishop Guilfoyle isn't helpless in this game - they can play too.

Just because you haven't lost yet doesn't mean you aren't beatable. BG is also unbeaten. Would anyone argue that Florida State is not beatable? They haven't lost either.
Re: Bishop Guilfoyle vs South Williamsport thread
Every team is beatable.
