I thought Bream was safe,......Lugo wasn't close, that was pathetic! Did you see Lugo was more surprised by the call than McKenry? He knew he was out, the ump was just ready to go home.

Missed calls are part of the game, human error...Until baseball adopts some sort of replay review system (outside of reviewing balls and strikes), missed calls will continue to happen with no recourse.

Everyone wants to talk about the blown call that eneded the game...

...BUT NOBODY WANTS TO TALK ABOUT THE FACT THAT THE PIRATES COULDN'T SCORE A SINGLE RUN OVER THE LAST 17 INNINGS OF THE GAME...THAT'S RIGHT, I SAID SEVENTEEN STRAIGHT SCORELESS INNINGS IN THE SAME GAME. That has to be some sort of record. It wasn't like the Braves were running Koufax or Ryan or Seaver out there either.

Last night/this morning's game was Exhibit A with regard to why the Bucs need another bonafide major league hitter if they hope to continue to contend in the NL Central. Clearly, Pedro Alvarez will NOT be the answer; he is not quite ready to be a #5 hitter at the MLB level, but he HAS to be at this point because he is the best option the Pirates have...

Yeah, but Garrett Jones is not a #2 hitter(doesn't look like a mlb hitter lately) and Overpay 6th? We can't change 1/2 the team. They definately have issues, McCutch batting cleanup? That in itself has taken 30 points off his avg. he's been trying to drive everything and flying out way more than a guy with speed should. To quote coach Lou from Major League 2, " Put the ball on the ground and use your speed" They absolutely need help but remember we aren't using the yanks checkbook.

Jerry Meals should be ashamed, he simply wanted to end the game and go home. Shame on you Meals for prematurely ended one of the best baseball games I've ever seen.

Everybody seems quick to point out the Pirates didn't score for 17 straight innings, Well the Braves didn't either. Our Bullpen can pitch.

My biggest problem with the whole thing is McKenry is built like a fireplug and Lugo is 40 and weighs about 160lbs...considering the ball beat him by 20 ft, why didnt he block the plate instead of a swipe tag?....Grow a set!!!

I believe he went for the swipe tag because he had a real good chance for a double play at first. Proctor fell out of the box so it probably would have been two.

Pedro Alvarez has the worst plate discipline I have ever seen. He hacks at at least one ball per AB (usually more). On the other hand, McCutchen has one of the best eyes in baseball, hardly ever chases a ball. If Alvarez had McCutchen's eye he would be a totally different ball player. Pedro also can't play third worth a crap. He has zero range to his left. Get that guy a first basemans mit and pound into his head that he is allowed to draw a walk now and then!

Also, I'm tired of watching so many Pirates batters that I can hardly watch the game when their up to bat. I'm sick of Overbay trying to pull everything and grounding out to 2nd or flying out to right. I'm sick of seeing Diaz check swing at every 2-strike breaking ball in the dirt. I'm sick of AAAA player Steve Pierce and he just got back. HE WILL NEVER HIT BIG LEAGUE PITCHING, HE IS A WASTE OF TIME!

Honestly the only reason I can even stand to watch the Buccos play lately is because their pitching is so dang good. I feel confident with pretty much anyone who comes in outta the pen and we all know about the rotation. Any more you can basically expect to.give up 3 runs or less. Too bad this scrap heap of a lineup is wasting it.

If the FO is serious about winning, now and in the future, they must add offense. Now.
