NHSCA WRESTLING CHAMPIONSHIPS

Post by crfan4ever »

Schopp aims for repeat run

Last year, Tyrone’s A.J. Schopp finished second at the National High School Coaches Association Freshmen Wrestling Championships in the 69-man 103-pound weight class.

Schopp is looking to get to the 112-pound finals of the three-day sophomore championships, which began Wednesday at the Virginia Beach Convention Center.

Seven other area wrestlers are participating in three of the four age groups. Mirror Wrestler of the Year Gary Pfahler of Chestnut Ridge and Penn Cambria’s Ryan Link are in the senior nationals, which begins today.

Joining Schopp in the sophomore event are Penn Cambria’s Pat Myers (119) and Zak Newton (189) and Central Cambria’s Phil Steinberg (140). Claysburg-Kimmel’s Corey Aungst (125) and Portage’s David Kephart (171) are wrestling in the freshmen nationals, which also began Wednesday.

Does anyone know where results can be found for this?

Thanks

I was able to look at the brackets on the following website: http://www.nhsca.com/calendar.php. Locate the particular tournament you want and then scroll down through the message to find the area "Post Results". Double click on that location and the brackets are located there.

I can't seem to find the results section. Can you be a little more specific.

Sorry and thanks.

Enter the webiste listed.... Find the event you are looking for and double click on that entry.... Scroll halfway down the page and you will come to "Pre Press: Outstanding Field for 19th National High School Wrestling Championships...." and immediately following this section you will notice on the left side "Post Press: Results" and double click on the "Results" and this will bring up the brackets in an Adobe Reader (.pdf) file.

Wrestling action begins on March 26 and concludes March 28 for grades 9, 10 & 11.

My bad; I misread the brackets, Schpps' match will be a quarter final and Newton is awaiting his 3rd round match.

Ryan link also won his 1st two matches, Pfahler is not only proving he was the best wrestler in the state but also one of the best in the country, Pfahlers first two matches were against kids who were 2 time state finalist in their respective states, based on the scores he seemed to handle them very easily, tommorow pfahlers first match will be against a 4 time state finalist, 2time state champ from illinois, If Pfahler wins he will probably face the number 1 wrestler in the nation at 140, Jason Chamberlion of UT a 4 time state champ, good luck to you Mr. Pfahler, we are all routing for you, does nayone know where pfahler is going to wrestle after high school, i herd something about the marines then someone told me he might try to go to college if so does anyone have any information on where he might be thinking of going to.
