How's It Hangin? Not Very Low: A Story of PSU QB Recruiting.

Post by The Ancient Enemy »

It is maybe starting to get a little hot in here.

Penn State targeted 3 quarterbacks in the beginning. Kevin Newsome, Tom Savage, and Tate Forcier. Since then, Newsome committed to Michigan, and Savage committed to Rutgers. Penn State is in Forcier's final 6, and when I look at his 6, PSU has a decent chance. Decent, at best.

Now, Savage's scholly has apparently been pulled, because no record of it exists. Maybe the offer was reported erroneously, who knows.

According to Scout.com, the NitWits have since offered 3-star CT Qb Jordan Love. Well, Love committed to Florida this week.

So now we turn to the rest of the birdbrains on the PSU QB big-board:

Andrew Shoop (2-stars): Danville, PA QB has an offer to Temple and nowhere else. Strengths are technique, release, and accuracy. Knock on him is his decision making. That's exactly what Penn State needs right now: another QB who throws the ball 70 yards into the stands when guys are wide open, or throws interceptions on screen passes. Shoop is admittedly frustrated with his lack of recruitment, despite the fact that he threw 16 picks.

Devontae Payne (2-stars): Cleveland QB has an offer to Bowling Green and nowhere else. Has good size at 6'5" and 220. Rivals says he has "all the potential in the world".

Marcus Wasilewski (2-stars): Mount Carmel, PA QB has no offers. 6'3", 200. Rivals doesn't even have a page for him.

Nick Raven (2-stars): North Pocono QB has zero offers. He is also 6'3", 200. This kid threw 4 TDs and 8 picks last season, and only tallied 700 yards passing. He is very vocal about his love of Penn State and how much he'd like to play there. I like that in a kid, but he is a protypical PSU QB who should be good but in reality is not. I'm sure he'll be offered a scholarship.

They better hope Forcier is stupid enough to go to Penn State.

So Savage's is not committed to Rutgers anymore??

Can you tell me what Clark was recruited as? Was it a QB, and how many stars did he have?

He was recruited as a 3-star QB. He was the only QB taken in PSU's 2005 class.
