Windber has changed a lot since week two and they definitely look a LOT better. They are on a 5 game winning streak and winners of 7 of their last 8 games.

That said, Conemaugh Township has changed a lot too. 4 game win streak and 6 of 7 is pretty comparable to Windber's strong play.

Windber has really stepped up their run game and have a ground advantage with the direct snap and power formations they run. But I'm of the school that says if you want a good run game, you need at least a decent pass game, and vice-versa, and therein lies the problem for windber. Township has given up an average of just 9 points per game since their lost to Portage in week 4. Keith Meeyers has 5 interceptions in the last 2 games which gives him 8 on the year and Matt Jones and Kyle Zambanini also have 4 each going into this weekend. This defense has tallied 21 interceptions , 19 forced fumbles with 13 recovered, and 17 sacks. To do that in such a short season speaks volumes about the level of play from your secondary. Conemaugh Township successfully shut down the passing games of their last 7 opponents and have won all of them but a close loss to AA North Star in which their kicker went down and they were unable to convery any 2 point conversions.

Township's new kicker has not missed an attempt (PAT or FG) since taking over and the LB core and D-Line have been able to figure out how to shut down the running game by half-time if not the end of the 1st quarter. With township being an awesome second half team, Windber needs to lead by at least 14 at the half in order to have a shot to win this game. And I dont think they can outscore a revamped 60-40 run pass team (much different than the 72-25 team they saw in week 2) by 14 points in the first half.

Windber is strong and they have looked really good, if they win...I'll cheer them and Portage on in the playoffs until they can play no more. But in honesty, Township is playing Playoff football and with this being their first trip in over 14 years to the D5 championship...they are Hungry and will want it more

Con. Township 26
Windber 21

Windber's offense is crazy, how did CT shut them out earlier in the season? I honestly think Everett is better than CT, but Everett killed themselves last week with turnovers and a few poor coaching decisions. Windber clobbered NB and was clearly the better team. Windber 27 CT 21

The reason for Everett's close game and almost scoring was also bad play callin on Township's coach.

Township came out to an early lead and was clearly dominating the game with an even pass and run offense.

Once the reality set in that they were winning, it's like he got scared and went into panic mode..suddenly the normal play calls and ryhtmic offense shut down. The coach even called an HB Draw on 3rd and 21....WTF??? Who the hell would make that play call..beats me...sounds like a scared and unconfident coach.

but CT's defense forced every turnover that Everett had..even the fumble on the 2 yard line..the ball wasstripped and recovered by CT.

Township returned the opening kickoff to the Everett 15 yard line...they got momentum right away and kept it until late in the third quarter

Windber has a strong offense, but like I said..CT has a TOUGH defense which is how they shut Windber out the first time. Windber will have a hard time get anything going through the air and will have to rely on their run game to win it. Township is keen on being able to figure out and stop the run by halftime if not earlier and will probably do the same. Plus...CT has been watching tape on Windber for a few weeks now just in case this scenario happened..so they will be pretty keen on what to expect come friday....i still take CT despite Windber's strong O

CT Indian are you a toolbag when it comes to football coaching or what. Leave the coaches out of it. THEY ARE IN THE DISTRICT CHAMPIONSHIP. Is there anymore that needs to be said. And "who calls a HB Draw on 3rd and 21". In high school or in any level of football that is probably one of the best play calls you can make as a coach. I would say MAYBE 10% of QB's in this area could make a strong accurate throw 21 yards, with the coach being confident they wont throw a pic. So why not do that catch them off guard and if you dont get it, it is better then throwing a pic.

If anyone was at the FH Richland game last week they can attest to this also. FH had the ball on Richlands like 20 1st and 10. First play had a penalty, second penalty, third penalty, first down fullback dive, second down incomplete pass. They had a 3rd and 35 and guess what Bailey did, ran a pitch to Mehall and he took it for 34 yards.

CTIndian you must be a disgruntled parent/player.

A few things there amused chatter:

1. I am not a disgruntled player or parent...just a fan
a. Most players are pissed with their coach depsite being in the championship
b. Most parents are too
2. This is not a one time thing...the township coach has a propensity to run on third and long almost every time, which completely throws your garbage "catch them off guard" comment out the window. EVERY TEAM they play KNOWS that on 1st down or on 3rd and long...they will RUN
3. They were on their own 13 yard line and we all know that High School punters dont always have the strongest legs. The CT qb was 6-6 at that point in the game and it would have been mich wiser to run a slice or an out and try to pick up even half the yardage, giving them a chance for a first down and if not at least better defensive field position
4. I used to be a coach, an offensive coordinator no less, and I know from experience that you should almost NEVER run the ball on 3rd and long...unless you rarely do and it creates an off-guard situation, which again, was not the case.

I may be hard on coaches...but not just on CTs team or this area...i am a big critic of coaches from High School to the NFL...i am very opinionated on this point. I thought it was stupid for Herm Edwards to go for 2 on sunday when a PAT would have tied the game

So dont get on my case trying to say i single out a certain or coach or I am too focused on the coaches...becuase talent and preparation wins games in most sports...but in high school football, PLAY CALLING makes a HUGE difference in a tight game

How did CT not only beat windber, but shut them out in week 2? One thing that gets missed by most people. You know how Windber has that severe angle blocking? The lineman submarined (bearcrawled) in a 5-3... Berlin did the same thing, it's why both of thier games were down to the wire. If it wern't for berlin's suspect secondary that game was thiers. It seems like such a trivial thing, but when your linebackers are making key reads and getting free runs at the backs.. You can't expect to do much on the ground, which will most likely put windber into a passing situation, where CT has one of the best secondaries in the area.

The HB Draw was most likely a field position play, im pretty dang sure that the coach didn't actually expect the first down. Like someone else mentioned, why risk the pic if you can gain 5 - 10 yards or possibly more...

Ulasky was the starting qb for windber in week two and threw 3 or 4 interceptions. Windber has since been starting a new qb (Strapple) and he has been playing solid. I can't see CT stopping the ground attack of Erickson and Clark, or the passing game for that matter. When Windber has to pass, they can. They have two deep threats in Ualsky and Clark, and a qb with an exellent arm. Windber won't let CT beat them for the 3rd straight time.
