Is it possible???

Post by abpk2903 »

Penn State's basketball team has a very, very simple non-conference schedule in which at worst they should have 11 wins going into the conference schedule. Penn State will play 13 non-conference games in which the only teams that have any pulse as a program are Temple, 'Nova (may play Towson instead however), Army, Georgia Tech, and Penn. Penn State very easily could go into Big Ten play 11-2, 12-1, or 13-0. Lets say they go into conference play 11-2 that means they have to win 9 of the 18 Big Ten games to get to the "magical" 20 win number and a tourney bid. However, if they go into the big 10 12-1 or 13-0 and win a game or two in the conference tourney they could have 20 wins with a conference record as bad as 6-12. Penn State will have to win, IMO, 21 games to get into the tourney which I think is feasible this season. Watching the Big Ten Networks conference preview the analyist was asked to rank the big ten and he had Penn State 3rd. What I am getting to is this is the last chance I and most Penn State fans will give Eddie. He finally has some depth and skill and a schedule that is a relative cake-walk into the big dance. Annual powerhouse NJIT (0-29 last season) tonight.

Anything is possible. That could be the saddest non-conference schedule I have ever seen. Why is that allowed?

The Flyers are just like the Titanic. They both look good until they hit the ice

I will finally give PSU some credit for their Oregon State win in football. The basketball schedule is inexcusable. I guess they can try to confuse their fan base by having a decent record going into conference play. That's when it gets really ugly.

all is well so far with Penn State moving to 4-0 today with a 20 point win over Rhode Island. Penn State is yet to be in a close game, I believe the closest game so far was a 16 point win.

Are you people insane? First of all, PSU beat New Hampshire today. Let's not confuse them with Rhode Island, who they actually play later this year. And WHAT tournament do you make if you have 20 wins? The NCAA's??? There is nothing magical about 20 wins. How about the RPI? Doesn't that mean anything? My guess is that PSU will struggle to make the NIT's at season's end, let alone the NCAA's. And all you have to do to make the NIT's is to have a winning record at season's end. PSU's ridiculous occ schedule is a travesty. And if it wasn't for the Big Ten-CC Challenge, they wouldn't even leave the state for an away game until they play a conference game. PSU HAS NOT had a winning season since Eddie got there.

Pitt played IUP yesterday. New Hampshire is a HUGE step up from IUP.

Pitt played IUP as a courtesy. IUP's head coach used to be an asst. at Pitt. They thought it would get them some recognition/recognition.
Pitt would kill psu in hoops if they played this year regardless of schedules. PSU in fact has a very soft schedule.

I knew it was one of the New England states.

What a bold prediction. Also, thanks for informing us on the strength of Penn State's schedule. I will turn to you for all my basketball analysis.
