Super Bowl XLIII

Post by Dfense wins games »

Two impressive wins over great ball clubs! Steelers putting up (what should have been 30) 23 on the Ravens has to have the Cardinals worried, not to mention Ryan Clark! Arizona looks like they have an awesome offensive attack and a solid defense as of late. Should be a barn burner!

I think the Steelers will win by at least two touchdowns as long as Hines Ward is playing. The Steelers should be able to sack Warner all day long. If you are a Steeler fan, you have to really like your chances at winning your 6th Super Bowl Title.

I am a big Steeler fan and I tried to bring myself to root for the Turnpike Super Bowl, but I couldn't think that the Cards would be an easier team to beat then the Eagles. Also, a true Pittsburgh fan can NEVER root for a Philadelphia team. Whisenhunt might have some tricks up his sleeves for his old team. The closer the game gets the more nervous I will become. Warner is pretty scary himself.

I too wanted to see the turnpike superbowl, would have been cool to play it at Beaver. It is gonna be a game. We really don't have anyone or two who can cover Fitz, yet alone bouldin, plus that tightend they got is pretty decent. Wiz also loves his screen game, which will keep the blitz pretty honest, also the draw that they run very well. They can play action pass fairly well too. Our defense does not really match well with them. Zoning them out with the Tampa two will give Kurt a ton of time in the pocket and we will pick us apart, Blitzing can lead to single coverage on their receivers not good, or screen game also not good. their oline has gotten much better the two sacks i saw yesterday where coverage sacks, for the most part they play like a russ oline, well. their defense is much improved as well. Maybe our great receiver who plays stoned all the time will have another good game. I think we should be able to run the ball and set up play action, who knows its gonna be intersting to see how it shakes out. I would expect Wiz to take a shot right off the bat

When it comes to pressuring the QB, the PA teams are the best. That said, Phili had a tough time getting to the QB which makes me think likewise for the Steelers. Altough LeBeau's defense is very confusing and we have the best LB core in the league. Im not too worried about our defense.

As I said, the Steelers have the best overall D in the land with two hard-hitting safeties. Im not so sure Polamalu is as scary as Clark anymore. That jaw-dropping hit on McGahee was very similar to his hit on Welker in the regular season.

I also like the Steeler's playoff offense. They've been pretty darn impressive with Big Ben leading the charge. The questionable drop by Holmes and Sweed's mindboggler and you have almost 40 on the Ravens! I think the Card's D is and should be more worried about our offense...

The Steelers just need to keep the ball away from deliverance's boy, Limas "Stone Hands" Sweed.

I love the almost had 40 idea, if grand valley state didnt beat us by 42 two years ago we would have almost won the game. I am going to expect a conservative game plan early by the steelers defense. Warner managed the greatest show on turf and he doesnt rattle easy, he checks down and can make pretty much all the throws in the game, his long ball is not what it used to be. If you blitz his you put single coverage on the wideouts or even worse drop ends or linebackers. early i would expect tampa 2 deep rushing 3 down lineman or 2 down and harrison and woodley. I do not expect hampton to be on the field too much early. Screen game could be a killer as seen early in the san diego game with sprowls rolling off a 20 something followed by the tight end screen. But we shall see.

Wow, he has had some bad drops this year. He did lay a nice hit on an ex-Oklahoma player afterwards, though. Sweed is going to need a lot of time catching balls in the offseason. I still think he has a great future ahead of him. Don't forget how many balls Jerry Rice dropped in his Rookie season. In fact, he dropped a touchdown pass that probably cost the 49ers a Championship, but he went on to have a pretty good career. I'm not saying Sweed will ever be as good as Jerry Rice, but once he gets regular playing time, he will show his true talent.

Who's Sweed gonna get "regular playing time" over? Ward and Holmes are far superior and Nate Washington can make the occasional tough catch over the middle when teams take away Ward from that option. I would like Sweed to be good, but i don't think he'll get a fair shake in Pittsburgh. They're too in love with Washington.

I'm not saying he's going to get it in Pittsburgh. He is not better than any of those three at this point. The only way he is getting playing time is if Holmes gets caught smoking another doobie or if Ward's age finally catches up to him at some point. Washington is a very nice deep threat. That's where Sweed is nice if he could actually catch the ball. Maybe the Steelers will release him after the season? I think that would be a big mistake, but he hasn't done anything right this season. He has dropped passes, committed penalties, and even got hit by the ball on a kickoff to give the other team a turnover. I don't think he's Larry Fitzgerald or anything, but I wouldn't release the guy after one season.
