D-6 Coach of the Year

Post by sportswhiz1 »

It's time to start thinking about coach of the year honors. On the boys' side, I think you have to go with Nagel of Cambria Heights. Nobody has gone as far with that team since 1986.

I am just going to go out on the line a little about Coach of the Year Honors. Everyone thinks the coach of the year should be the coach who wins the district, the league or whatever. I am impressed more with the Coach who does not have the horses but just an average group of players and is able to win 14 to 16 games. Harmony for example, Terry Kruise does a great job with a small school who lost its best player following the first game due to transfer and is still kicking in the playoffs. When you look at the Owls they are not big or fast but they win.

I think Coach Nagle did an outstanding job at Cambria Heights this season and it would be a great honor for him and the Cambria Heights School District to get the award. Well deserving if he gets it.

Bob Rado (Homer-Center) or Terry Kruise (Harmony).

But correct me if I am wrong: there is do d6 coach of the year award. The closest two things would be the Altoona Mirror Coach of the Year (only for Mirror coverage area) and the State Coach of the Year.
