Who's the best player in Hockey???
Not sure how many hockey fans are out there but just a wondering who some people have a hockey's best player. This is a league with some great young players. Crosby, Malkin, Ovechkin is who we always hear about around here but if Iginla was on the East coast he would be mentioned with the best of them. If you wanna vote for a player that led his team to a cup, look at Zetterberg and Lacavalier.

Re: Who's the best player in Hockey???
Abpk, this is a good poll. Im stumped. I really dont know who to vote for. Malkin, Crosby, and Ovechkin all have my vote, I just wish I didnt have to pick one. If you go by stats and points then clearly Malkin. Ovechkin blows the competition away with his goal scoring, although he only has 47 goals because he takes twice as many shots as anybody else in the NHL. Crosby on the other hand, not judging by statistics is just pure talent. He's one of the fastest and best skaters, and I feel he makes everyone on his line better. So abpk, good poll Im still thinking.
One more person could have been added to this list though, Martin Brodeur. He may have been injured for most of the season, but lets not forget he is about to break two huge records for goalies with most shutout wins, and most career wins.

I was trying to let out goalies though. It is to hard to compare them to forwards because they do completely different things. If anyone wants to post who they think is the best goalie Luongo, Brodeur, Lundqvist, Miller, Turco, Theodore, and Nabokov are some great options.
Also for you real hockey guru's best defensemen?
Chara, Gonchar, Phaneuf, Lidstrom, Pronger, Niedermayer, and Souray are IMO the best out there.
I'm like you though, nLions. I can't decide on the best. I think Crosby is the face of hockey but his ability to speak English helps elevate him over the rest of these guys.

I know i'm going to get grief for this...or at least i think i will, but my vote goes to ovechkin. he's the most exciting player to watch day in and day out, he shoots the most shots in the league which shows me he's try to score each and every time he's on the ice, and he does have a physical game. the only part i do not like about him is he's a capital.

Character cannot be developed in ease and quiet. Only through experience of trial and suffering can the soul be strengthened, ambition inspired, and success achieved.

That was my exact thought too count, and since he's a Capital, my vote didnt go for him. He's definitely up there, but for the all around athlete in hockey, I gotta give it to Crosby. He's just spectacular to watch.

Re: Who's the best player in Hockey???
I was yet to vote but after tonight's game my vote has gotta go with Malkin. Crosby can pass, control the puck, skate, and control the boards. Ovechkin can flat out find the net, fly all over the ice, and play relatively physical for a star. Malkin possesses all of these skills not to also mention one of the heaviest shots in the league. The thing that keeps Malkin off the popularity level of Crosby is his inability to speak English. Anyone who heard his post game interview tonight knows that. I give my vote to Malkin because he may not be the scorer of that of Ovechkin or the passer of Crosby but he got more of everything when put all together. For those people that say that Malkin benefits from much of what Crosby does look at his numbers without Sid in the lineup. They get even better. Also, remember last year Malkin was unstoppable through the Eastern Conference Playoffs. Bottom line is Crosby, Malkin, and Ovechkin have the future of this game looking as bright as any league in professional sports. I could not argue with any one of these votes.

Re: Who's the best player in Hockey???
There are a ton of overly talented players in the NHL. It's fun to watch on a night to night basis whenever games are on VS. It seems everybody in Detroit can be as good as anybody in the world from night to night. San Jose is loaded with talent. The Pens are down right sick. And the Caps, when they're playing their brand of hockey, can not be stopped. Malkin, Crosby and Ovechkin are all impressive. What has Ovechkin done in the playoffs in his career thus far? Has he made it as far as Malkin and Crosby have? I think not. It's a toss up between Malkin and Crosby, IMO, and I think Malkin wins that race, hands down. If only he could speak english!
