Isiah Thomas to Florida International?

What are your thoughts on Isiah taking the position at FIU?

He went from coaching in the NBA to coaching at Florida International. That's when you know you really screwed up. He should do fine there since the expectations aren't going to through the roof. I don't expect to see him holding up too many NCAA Tournament trophies, though. This could lead to a better coaching job in the NCAA if anyone at a more prestigious school would ever be willing to take a chance on him.

Ever think maybe thats why he took the FIU job? Because the expectations arent high, therefore no monkey on his back. Just somewhere for him to go do what he loves, and get some good money in the process.

Otherwise he took this job because there was no where else to go. :lol:

nLions1, it was definitely because of the latter. The guy had practically no success in the NBA as a Coach and GM. On top of that, he had some accusations of sexually harrassing women. That's why he's stuck at Florida International for now, but after PSU fires DeChellis, I would think he's first in line for that job.

I think he could have gotten an assistant coaching position at a bigger school though (Indiana). Wouldn't you rather be an assistant at IU than head coach at FIU? Especially with a name like Isiah Thomas. Or what about going to help coach at Washington? Then Isiah Thomas could be coachig a kid named Isiah Thomas.

After having Bobby Knight and Kelvin Sampson as their coaches, I would think Indiana is staying far away from Isiah Thomas, even if it was just as an assistant coach.

Unlike the other two, Isiah played at IU and is very well respected with the fans of IU.

yeah I still don't see IU have wanting Isiah right now. They can take no chance what so ever of another controversial coach.
