I was more surprised by Everett's two losses in the Punxy Tournament than the loss at SF (tough place to play and a talented team). The AC Valley loss I didn't understand. Someone fill me in, If AC Valley is that much better than Everett then as an "A" team they may be able to challenge the WPIAL teams and Kennedy Catholic come playoff time? Are they that good?
Marion Center....decent "AA" team but at best a darkhorse to get into the D6 final four in AA was a surprise loss too.
Everett's coaches will not let things deteriorate like they apparently did in football, and they've got better quality leadership on the hoops team than the football team had from players standpoint (my opinion). They'll be back and shouldn't lose more than 1 more game all year. With SF losing at TM and at Ridge, Everett remains in the SHL drivers seat as long as they win the return SF game at home next week.

everett two losses in the punxsy tournament were to quality teams....a-c valley has 2 kids at 6 5 and 6 7 ...both pretty athletic,,,and excellent guard play...defensively they played a tight man to man defense and offensively they shot the ball extremely well......marion center while not as big still was still bigger than the everett kids....pretty good point guard who was able to penetrate and dish or shoot a nice floater....couple with the fact that everett shot extremely poorly equaled 2 losses..it was a defensive struggle at sothern fulton....again they didnt shoot the ball as well as the early games and also had too many turnovers....they certianly had an opportunity to win either of the last 2...the loss to ac valley was a blow out...either way you cannot be critical of the effort the kids gave over the last week...
wouldnt be surprized to see a c valley do well in the playoffs....a lot of things can happen till playoff time....not so sure about marion center

I don't know if I would say that Everett's football team deteriorated at the end of the year. Just based on the playoff game? I think Blairsville was just that much better than them. They may not have played their best game, but Bville had their number. Everett's defense was terrible which didn't help the situation. And for anyone who wants to compare that team to the team in '01...they don't even compare. The '01 team would have thrashed them. But back to basketball...I think this Everett team will stick together and do well. I don't know about any state playoff run, but they certainly do have some talent.

I was actually referring to Everett first flirting with a loss to a S.Huntingdon team they were much better than and then losing to Williamsburg (shocking upset of the year). They deteriorated prior to the Playoffs...my opinion. And for the record, I don't blame the staff...My understanding is they had some internal problems (players). Yes, beating Mo Valley and then a few weeks later losing to Williamsburg is definitely deteriorating.
