ALL HOPE LOST

The Pirates had stuck around .500 to this point, giving us a tiny bit of hope that they could stay around and maybe pull off a winning season. After the trades sending Morgan and McLouth for basically nothing, I was absolutely discouraged and thought our hopes of winning were once again gone.

While watching last night's game against the Phillies, I started to believe that there may still be a small chance of success for the Pirates. Backup guys like Delwyn Young and Garrett Jones are hitting well, combined with the consistent play of McCutchen, Sanchez, and a healthy Ryan Doumit. The Buccos were ahead 5-0, and with Ohlendorf pitching well, I thought it would be an easy one to win. With more good pitching and some added hitting, the score going into the bottom of the 9th was Pirates 7 Phillies 3. Matt Capps proceeds to give up a homer to Ryan Howard making it a one run game, then a few more hits. Final score, 8-7 Phillies.

At this point I realized that the Pirates have no hope, this year, any year. I hope they do trade Freddy Sanchez, and Andrew McCutchen, because they don't deserve to play under management that has no desire to win. It really sucks watching a once storied franchise never be able to win.

The Pirates are 3-9 since trading Nyjer Morgan. Are they ever going to call up the so-called "great" prospect in Lastings Milledge?

Sod this trade stuff. I hope the owners sell the franchise and it moves to Columbus, but they won't do that, for they can make millions in Pittsburgh by being a joke and fleecing the taxpayers of western Pennsylvania for the PNC Park.

I know about and keep hearing that it's a "162 game season" but last nights loss to the Philly's really hurt.

The headlines in today's Tribune sport page about the Pirate 8-7 loss yesterday read "Pirates Blow Big Lead". If you ask me, the headlines were 2 words too long.

I could not even finish watching the game today. I mean they make mistakes that you wouldn't even tolerate from little leaguers. Twice today the fuccos baserunners were doubled off because they decided to run on a flyball. Both times they had 2 runners on with less than 2 outs.

The in one the 8th inning was absolutely ridiculous. Wilson on 3rd, McCutchen on 1st, Sanchez batting 0-0 count. McCutchen ran on the first pitch that for some dumb **** reason the Pirates had on the hit and run. This makes no sense to me because Sanchez is a great contact hitter and could take a strike so McCutchen could move to second. Why run the risk of the double play? Anyways Sanchez hits a high fly ball into right at the warning track. McCutchen continues running even after the ball was caught. Not at one time with the ball in the air did he or any other Pirates have the notion to tell him to get back or as he approached 3rd he must not have realized that Wilson is tagging. WTF?????

I just read where Jack Wilson and Freddy Sanchez could be the next two to go in the next 2 weeks. What a circus this is. How many teams in the last 4 years have traded players like the Pirates have? NONE! In my opinion this is not fixable. The only was it is fixable is to allow Mark Cuban to buy the pirates and be able to compete financially. Until they get a owner who can spread some money around they won't win.

The Pirates acted like they wanted to sign Freddy Sanchez and Jack Wilson to extensions and then went on to offer them less than they were making now. Did they think they were going to sign hometown discounts for a team that doesn't even try to win? Jack Wilson flipped out after they traded McLouth and Morgan. Why would he sign for a hometown discount? He can go somewhere and take less money and win for once in his career.
