BCS Bowl Still on PSU's Horizon
Believe it or not...
If Iowa loses to Ohio State, which is very likely (at Columbus, no Stanzi, and OSU is far better), PSU just needs to win out and finish in the top 14 of the BCS. The Orange Bowl is already eyeing the Lions.
There are grumblings that the Orange Bowl is not making enough money anymore. They want a team who has tremendous following. That means that teams like TCU and Boise will be passed-over by the Orange Bowl selection committee. Great for PSU, great for the Bowl, terrible for morality.
ABPK, you are now on the clock and we are awaiting your justification as to how PSU has earned this.

Re: BCS Bowl Still on PSU's Horizon
This is horrible for the Big 10 and Penn State this year.
It won't matter. They'll lose to Michigan State on the road. Because MSU nearly beat Iowa, PSU will play that one not to lose instead of win, and we'll be reliving 2007 all over again.

I don't think they earned it. They are not that good. According to your theories, they should be undefeated so you should be the one justifying it.

Re: BCS Bowl Still on PSU's Horizon
The 4 teams in front of Penn State lost today. Add in Iowa and USC. Penn State should be within 14th next week. Thoughts?????? Will Penn State pull a Notre Dame and sneak into a BCS bowl with a not so great team? Looks like a win at Michigan State may do that.

Re: BCS Bowl Still on PSU's Horizon
#16 Utah lost
#10 Iowa lost
#9 USC got destroyed once again. I wonder if they'll fall all the way to 10th?
# 14 Miami lost
#15 Houston lost
#17 Arizona lost
No one behind PSU really played all that impressively. I don't think they'll get jumped by anyone. Assuming all of those teams fall behind PSU (with the exception being USC, even though they don't deserved to be ranked), Penn State will be up to 13th in the BCS. So, baring a total meltdown in East Lansing, PSU is most definitely going to pull a ND and get to a BCS bowl game.

Re: BCS Bowl Still on PSU's Horizon
It is both amazing and disturbing that this team has a chance to play in a BCS game. Penn State in 2009 is yet another example of how unfair this system really is.

If not Penn State, who? Penn State does not deserve a BCS bowl but who else does?
Right now these are the bowl locks:
SEC:
-Florida and Alabama will both play in a BCS bowl.
Big East:
-Cincinnati and Pittsburgh are their candidates. They both may get a bid when its all said and done.
ACC:
-Only the champion will get a bid.
Big Ten:
-Ohio State is going to the Rose Bowl. Penn State will probably also get a bid with a win this week. Wisconsin has hopes but Penn State must lose this week.
Big 12:
-Just Texas unless they are upset in the Big 12 championship then the conference will have 2.
MID-MAJORS:
-Boise State and TCU I feel will both get bids.
So this is who I think is making it (baring major upsets):
-ACC Champ
-Florida
-Texas
-Alabama
-Cincinnati
-Penn State
-TCU
-Boise State
-Pittsburgh
-Ohio State

Re: BCS Bowl Still on PSU's Horizon
The field in college football is just really watered down this year.
Iowa and LSU would get bids if there wasn't a rule prohibiting 3 teams from one conference. Oklahoma State may have an argument of making it over someone on that list but other than that no body is on the radar scale for being BCS quality.
