Dream Big 10 solution

Post by KirkHerbstreit »

In a dream world my ideal situation would be to have the Big 10 expand to 14 teams. They would add ND, Pitt, and Syracuse.

Penn State
Notre Dame
Syracuse
Pitt
Ohio State
Indiana
Illinois

Michigan
Michigan St.
Wisconsin
Northwestern
Minnesota
Iowa
Purdue

Play the 6 other teams in your own division and 2 teams rotate on and off your schedule from the other section yearly and one team from the other section is on the schedule yearly (i.e Michigan vs. Ohio St.) Teams might need moved around to make the conferences more even

Big Ten Championship played at RCA dome. In my opinion, this would be a really cool conference. It's just too bad it will never happen.

The only reason that your a basketball conference is because it is a 16 team conference and 8 of those are only in because of having good basketball. If any other conference were to go get the best non-BCS basketball schools they would be pretty dang good as well.

Look outside the box, folks. First and foremost, Pitt is a institution of higher learning not a basketball school. You mean to tell a good institution like Pitt would not like to share its research with some of the best academic schools in the country. If basketball is what Pitt would base the decision off of (which it is not), you mean to tell me a conference with Pitt, Michigan State, Notre Dame, Syracuse, Indiana, Ohio State, Michigan, Wisconsin, Illinois, Minnesota, and Purdue would not be sufficient? I would bet that if that would ever happen to be a conference, the Big Ten would get nearly 10 teams in the tournament each season. And that is a 14 team conference, not 16 like the current Big East.

100% agreed Herbie.... The Big 10 needs to make a bold move like the ACC did several years back....offer several teams...Pitt, Syracuse, maybe a current Big 12 team....

I wonder how many Penn state fans would even talk about this on here if PSU actually played any good Non conference teams, probally none would be my guess.

Do you even realize how much of a moron you are for making fun of a team for a bad OOC schedule when you follow Pitt who plays in the Big East and played ZERO quality OOC teams and had 5 OOC games to schedule.

Unless of course you want to argue that these are good teams

Youngstown St
Buffalo
NC State
Navy
Notre Dame

I think most people would like to see Pitt join the Big Ten for a reality check.

Does PSU play the #1 ranked team the next two years?
Does PSU have series coming up with good ACC and Big 12 schools?
Was Syracuse Big lEast champs when they were put on the schedule?
What does PSU's non-conference schedule have to do with Big Ten expansion????

Go back to the D5/6 football thread, you weren't the least intelligent one on the board there.

That's not a dream. JoePa would crap himself if he had to play those teams every year. Notre Dame, Ohio State, and Pitt all in one season. JoePa would retire before he had to play those three teams every season.

He's not going to play Pitt again unless it is a BCS game in 10 or 11. The contract expires in 2011 and he will not get an extension. The Big Ten is looking into expansion over the next year and a half. That's prior to the 2011 season. Remember, there are games scheduled in advance in EVERY sport. The earliest Rutgers, err I mean "whoever", joins the Big Ten is probably 13. That's my take, at least.

This won't happen and I'll tell you why.....the RCA Dome was imploded in 2007.
