Please tell me not again
I have had two people ask me if there is yet another coaching change coming to the Ferndale Girls Basketball team. Please tell me this is not true.

A coaching change DURING the season??? That would be very unusual.

Yes...yes it would be...and shockinng too if it had't happened late in the 2007-08 season with this very same program. And also following the 2000-01season...and after the 2001-02 season.....and following the
20006-07 season....and that's in girls basketball alone at Ferndale.
Actually from what I am hearing, the current Ferndale Superintendent has put a stop to this nonsense. Somewhere my Dad is looking down and smiling!

Is it possible for me to patent the idea of just placing all of the parents names in a hat and picking out two every season?
So who's the next vict....I mean coach?

Stila...you seem to be a loyal jacket follower. What in the world prompted another coaching change at Frendale at this point in the season? Checking the Tribune this morning I saw Ferndale girls dropped one last night. Does anyone, players and parents alike, think that the winning formula involves discarding coaches in mid-season?stilajacket wrote:Is it possible for me to patent the idea of just placing all of the parents names in a hat and picking out two every season?

Or is it the other way around? Why are coaches choosing to leave Ferndale (Girls program) so frequently?
Can you shed some light on this subject?

Re: Please tell me not again
I can give you a chronology of events starting with my own. Mind you these are my opinions and in most cases my direct knowledge of what happened.
1998 I take over for Don Joswick without so much as an interview.
2001 - A parent phones me at my home at midnight upset about her freshman daughters playing time and tells me "I am going to make up a story about you so you'll lose your caoching job". Same parent also phones my elderly parents home around midnight the same night with the same message. I report this to John Marley the then principal and AD...he does nothing.
Subsequently my father runs for a school board seat and ousts a woman from Ferndale. In May of that year...following them opening up all of the fall and winter coaching jobs and without any interviews being conducted they Hire Daryl Anderson with the motion being made by the woman my father ousted.
One year later the girls collectively tell the school Board that if Mr. Anderson is the Coach, they won't play. Parents phone me and ask me to return...I almost choke from laughing.
They hire Mike Crisafoli he lasts I think 4 years until he disciplines two players who choose to attend a cheerleading contest in Florida rather than play in an interdistrict playoff game. The administration forces him to let these girls play and he subsequently resigns.
Next comes Mae Beth Schalles and Sarah Priest who are asked to resign two thirds of the way through the season for showing the movie old school on a bus to a PSU womens game. Player who is getting little playing times father who is also on the school board spearheads this crap. His daughter subsequently quits the following year. In the interim, I have no less than 6 parents contact me about being the new coach.....I again almost choke from laughing.
Current coach takes over in 2008 and I watch intently as duirng an interdistrict playoff game, players come to the oposite side of the gym to take instruction from a parent. Only to find out that said parent and another individual have been attending and running practices for a great portion of the year.
Now I wonder what the problem could be....
