Cornell wins conf, heads to big dance.

Cornell, who has limited facilities, great academics, win without any off the court issues, recruit well for a school w all the forementioned fasts, and are located in the middle of nowhere, has won their conference and is headed to the Big Dance.

Now... that being said... South of Cornell is one of the most prestigious major-college universities who have all the same characteristics as Cornell except major-college appeall and wonderful facilities.

If Cornell wins with honor, recruits well, and has an actual program, why can't penn state do it, again?

Cornell has had a 3 year run. PSU has had that in the past as well. I would say it runs in cycles rather than start an argument as to why can Cornell have success and not PSU. Look prior to the 07 season and Cornell is mediocre, which is basically the situation PSU is in. Put PSU in the IVY league and you would see better results. Put Cornell in the Big 11 and you may see different results. Next year all will be good for the nitters. Wait and see... but I think that we should quit beating this dead horse.

Good points. Let me ask u this, though. This 3 yr run... Is it with the same coach they have now? I don't know his resume. But it seems to me that he came in, was organized, understood the dynamic of "academics first", and can recruit to fit his system. Has Cornell EVER outrecruited Syracuse, etc for ONE player?

My point is, here's a guy who came in and understood the parameters at a school like Cornell and still wins. It can be done. At cornell, penn state, ebensburg school of the lepers, etc.

As for beating a dead horse, there's always gonna be discussion of bball by the psu crowd.

I understand totally. But I think that PSU will have a good year next year with everyone back. And I am not against discussing basketball. :lol: But I just get tired of the comparisons to other teams that really do not compare when you take into consideration their conference and many other factors. I really do not think you can compare PSU and Cornell. Look at Northwestern. One could make arguements for and against them too.
Anyway, I was just stating my opinion. Don't want to argue. I just wish the nitters would just take the 'wait and see' attitude and watch what happens next year. You may be surprised.

The reason I used Cornell was bc they are in the middle of nowhere (PSU argument) and they succeed without breaking the rules. If they can do it, there's no excuse why psu can't when u add great facilities and major-college appeal. Would Cornell make the big dance in the B10 this year? No. I know what you're saying.

As for wait and see... Haven't we been doing that? There are gaps in his recruiting and there's no structure. And again... I seriously hate to repeat myself... But doesn't a coach's worth really come out in seasons like 2009-10? Have they gotten ANY better throughout this season?

They'll be better next year, but is that good enough? I don't think it is. I would rather part ways w Eddie, and take a guy like the dude at Dayton or Cornell. Let's build a program and have a battleplan.

Correct me if I am wrong but Daytons head coach only had 1 head coaching job prior to Dayton. that was at toledo and he only won 12 games. Do you think Toledo folk were calling for his head? He only lasted one year there for some reason. Now he finds success. You cant define a coach as good or bad solely on record. you need to look at their conference, who they play, etc. Eddie was a great coach at East Tenn St. Now he isnt?
Wait till next year and Central Pa will think they have a John Wooden rebirth. haha. But I know how psu folk are with hopping the bandwagon. Remember Jerry Dumb??????? :shock:
