Early 2011 recruiting.

Post by Crimson09Crazy »

Pitt picked up their 2nd and 3rd Commitments today, picking up QB Gary Nova of Don Bosco Prep NJ, and Central Dauphin Center, Artie Rowell.

Looks like Nova is a pretty solid pickup. Scout has him rated #32 QB in the country, nothing too special but I mean he runs the Pro Style Offense. Descent size 6-2 210. Had offers from UVA,BC,Vandy, Colorado, and Rutgers. Probably hurts our chances with Cody Kessler, the highly regarded QB from California. But we already have Mark Myers and Anthony Gonzalez from the 2010 class. So looks like we're set on QB's for a while.

Artie Rowell chose us over Northwestern and Temple. Wasn't highly recruited but we literally do not have a Center on this year's team, I think its a need we should probably address. 6-2 296. Good size hopefully he can help the program.

They join the first commit, Sam Collura, a Tight End from DeMatha Catholic in Maryland. His first offer was Pitt and he commited right away. Nobody else has bothered to offer since. I like that Pitt is trying to get a pipeline with DeMatha....especially since the #1 player in the country is the Offensive Tackle from DeMatha. Hopefully having three players from there might sway him to Pitt. Hey its worth a shot!

Nitters nobody jumped on board thus far.....still very very early.

Some of us Nitters are grumbling about how we did not chase Rowell. Very solid acquisition.

Texas only has 20 commitments for 2011 recruiting already. :D . If they can land Malcolm Brown, this year's class may top last years. They've got some serious talent coming in at OL in the 2011 class.

Hahah oh god.

Just an opinion question....Which RB do you think is better? Jameel Poteat from McDevitt or Savon Huggins of Jersey. I'd like to end up with one of the two.

Huggins is better, IMO. I think Poteat is very good but he's nationally overrated. USC offering him is not as big a statement as it usually is, bc USC is carpetbombing everything in sight and taking whoever wants to come. Its first come first serve and I do not disagree w/ that tactic.

Panthers pick up #4.

Quinton Alston, 3 Star Linebacker out of New Jersey.
Checks in at 6-1 215 pounds. Not ideal size for a College Linebacker, But has the body to probably add on some pounds, a few months with Buddy Morris should do the trick. Has good speed, and projects very well at the college level. I like this commit. Favorite one we got thus far.

Comes in with offers from all over the country such as Wisconsin, WVU, UVA, Stanford,Iowa Louisville,Cincy among others. About 20 offers in all.
