For anyone saying that the Big Ten expansion was academic...
hahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahaha wait wait i got take a breath hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha. Nebraska. A giant academic powerhouse that can brush shoulders, with Michigan and Northwestern. Puhhhhhleaseeeeeeeeeee it was about having a big stadium and money. Never ever in a billion years about academics. And thank you Big 11 for proving my point.
Time for some to admit they were wrong.
So what now? Does Nebraska ever leave the Big 12? Should the Big 11 adopt the name of the conference Nebraska just bolted?

No matter which way you look at it, Pitt wasn't good enough in either category.
Good luck wherever Pitt ends up.

Re: For anyone saying that the Big Ten expansion was academi
Okay, Nebraska's academics aren't that bad, and they just built that huge research and development park.
Let me ask you this. Outside of Rutgers and Notre Dame, what D1 academic institutions ARE viable targets for Big Ten expansion? They aleady have 11 great academic universities. Can you name 5 more that make regional sense?
Just a tidbit... They are looking at adding 5 teams. The only place where Pitt was mentioned as a serious candidate was on BleacherCoaches.com. Have a good time in Conference USA, which is all the Big East is anyways.

Nebraska is an AAU school, by the way. So are the rest of the Big Ten.

Defend any way that makes you feel better about it. At the end of the day It was not an academic addition. The same thing I told you all along. Nebraska has the biggest stadium and the largest fanbase of all the teams mentioned and thats why they were picked. You and I both know it.
Ham, I am thrilled to death we arent joining the Big Ten.
I think The Big East survives or we hop in the ACC. Either way I'm happy.

Re: For anyone saying that the Big Ten expansion was academi
As a Pitt fan you should be happy you aren't joining the Big 10. Having to play Ohio State, Michigan, Iowa, Nebraska, Penn State every year sure wouldn't be as nice as opposed to playing South Florida, Cincinnati, West Virginia, Rutgers, Syracuse and Uconn lol

Crimson, do you seriously favor staying in a league w/ Marshall and Navy over the future prosperity of the university? C'mon, dude. Even you are smart enough to see the writing on this wall. And it says, "SORRY, PITT".
What makes you so sure the ACC takes Pitt over UCONN?

well think about it, You make it so important about this AAU nonsense, Pitt is an AAU University....UConn not soo much.
Regardless, the SEC is gonna take Miami and FSU. And my thought the ACC will want to become a Super conference as well picking up Pitt, UConn, WVU Syracuse, USF and Rutgers.....

Re: For anyone saying that the Big Ten expansion was academi
I wouldn't be so sure that should be classified as a super conference, bro.
I dont think the ACC is as tight as the Big Ten when it comes to academic requirements. I mean, Clemson is about as bad as you can get.
