ICC Week 10 and Playoffs
ICC Week 10 and Playoffs
6-0 last week, 46-8 on the year.
I can't believe the season is almost over. For some of the teams it already is and I predict it comes to a close for Williamsburg, West Branch, Mo Valley, Tussey Mountain, and Mount Union this week. After this week I predict that Bellwood, Juniata Valley, Northern Bedford, and Glendale will be the ICC members left standing.
Regular season:
Williamsburg @ West Branch
This is a tough game to call and should be an interesting matchup to finish the year. Teams without good records can still play some pretty exciting games and this should be one of them. Two pretty good quarterbacks will be on display in Lee(Will) and Corl (WB). The conference has some solid quarterbacks this year and both of these guys fit the bill as well. Slippey from West Branch will be the fastest player on the field. Williamsburg has the better offense and West Branch has a better defense. Defense wins championships, but this isn't a championship game.

Penns Valley @ Mount Union
I don't know anything about Penns Valley. They have played stiffer competition all year so I'll go with them. I'm sure they don't want to go out winless. I don't know if their coaches told the truth for everyone, but if so PV has some nice size according to the roster on Maxpreps.

Moshannon Valley @ Bishop McCort
Coach Fetzer's squad got better and better as the year went on and won 4 of their final 5 games to get a spot in the playoffs. Their season ends this week, but they look like they'll be pretty good next year because they had some youth this year. Southern will be one of, if not the best, running backs to return in the conference next year. McCort is too big and too good. They might win the district from their 7 seed.

United @ Glendale
I've been on the Tyler Jenny bandwagon all year and I'll continue it this week. Jenny is a tough matchup, especially for a team that hasn't seen them much throughout the year. As for United, they play pretty good defense, but their offense doesn't do enough to allow them to keep up with the Vikings. They have scored 152 points on the season, for about 16 ppg and that won't be enough for them to survive round 1.,

Meyersdale @ Northern Bedford
Northern Bedford is led by 1400 yard rusher Preston Albright. Meyersdale is led by 1000+ running back, Justin Hoover. Last week each guy put up 200 yards and Hoover put up almost 300 against Rockwood. So, we know that both teams like to run the ball and they both have backs that can do some nice things. Both teams have run first offenses obviously and both pass effectively as well. The difference is that Northern Bedford has a very good defense and Meyersdale hasn't been nearly as effective. Meyersdale has scored 281 points on the year which is over 30 points per game. They have allowed 270 though which is exactly 30 points per game :shock: NBC also scores over 30 per game and allows under 10. Give me the Panthers.

Tussey Mountain @ North Star (Saturday)
Tussey reached the playoffs with a 5-4 record when in the preseason lots of people were down on them including me. Vinnie Coy was the surprise of the year in the ICC and has really given the Titans a lift. I don't think he was ever much of a name in junior high or even as a sophomore or junior. It shows that guys can come out of nowhere to have a huge year and he has done just that. New coach Josh Smith has had a really nice first season. It will come to an end this week though. The Titans have a tough draw in North Star. The Cougars are led by the Straisser brothers and Tussey won't be able to match up with the younger one, Tony and his 6'5" frame. Tussey can play some offense, but I don't think they'll be able to slow down North Star.

I think that all the schools who don't make the playoffs should get together a week 10 game, there are plenty of options in D5/6 who aren't going to the playoffs and aren't playing a week 10 game.
