ANDREW P. SHAY, The Patriot-News, November 15, 2010 6:16 p.m.
Steel-High senior running back Clayton McNair has been moved out of intensive care after surgery to relieve pressure on his brain early Saturday morning.
McNair was moved out of the ICU at Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center Sunday according to Rollers' head coach Rob Deibler.
In a text message, Deibler wrote "moved into a room, should be home by the end of the week. Cat scan was good. He's awake, eating and doing what he does best ... talking."
This is all good news for McNair, who suffered a neck injury late in Steel-High's come-from-behind 41-32 District 3-A victory over Columbia last Friday night.
Late in that contest McNair, who rushed for 188 yards and four touchdowns, was twice whipped to the turf by his facemask. The second time he told Deibler during a timeout his neck hurt, and Deibler immediately sent him off the field to be evaluated by the medical staff.
Less than 15 minutes later the 5-7, 170-pound McNair was unconsciousness. He regained consciousness nearly 25 minutes later before being transported by ambulance from War Veterans Memorial Stadium to Hershey Medical Center.
