West Shamokin Staying WPIAL

West Shamokin is staying WPIAL for all sports other than football which they are trying to go independent. Looks like the Heritage will not expand (I still think Leechburg is a reach). Yes a West Shamokin game could be a good option for Heritage schools for the open non-conference week. As far as other sports, is there any difference between 9, 10 or 11 schools. Anything less than 12 you don't have section play and a championship game in sports like hoops, baseball/softball and volleyball which the old AC had.

West Shamokin will pursue independent schedule for 2012 season because Heritage Conference won't accept them for football only. I think W Shamokin is banking on filling their schedule with Heritage Conference open dates. But..........if Leechburg accepts and is accepted there won't be any Heritage Conference open dates!

My hope all along has been to see a working deal with the West PAC, if Chestnut Ridge finds a conference I see more Heritage schools playing the open West PAC school than West Shamokin even if its an option for each school.
