From the very point it happened during the year, I never quite understood the decision of the Coaching staff to bench Rob Bolden for Mcgloin. I was so impressed with Bolden as a True Freshman. He came in to the year with no spring practice and within 3 weeks of practice impressed coaches so much that he won the starting job over kids who had been there well over a year. He played poised his very first game and in my opinion impressed the heck out of me during his first drive in Alabama. I thought finally Penn State had a quarterback that had talent, poise, and a great arm that they could live through a year of growing pains with to be so much better the 3 years to follow. What happens? The kid has the expected growing pains, gets hurt during a game he went 14-17 for 180 yards and 2 tds, then rarely sees the field the rest of the year. Mcgloin had the perfect storm. He played average the remaining minnesota game, then relieved Bolden because he got sacked 2 seconds after he took a snap. Proceeded to do well against teams with terrible defenses on PSU's schedule and lousy against any semblence of a good team(which is pretty much Penn State's entire team MO these days) Today, Mcgloin threw 5 picks and was never pulled. What has been wasted is valuable experience for a kid that could have really blossomed next year. Now, they are back to the drawing board with a 3 qb race(with more than likely Mcgloins job to lose follwing Paterno's ways) I would loved to have seen where Bolden would be right now with the experience he would have gained this year. Now, for all we know he may transfer and that's a shame because in my opinion he has a ton of potential.

mcgloin over bolden was a terribl decision except for those two weeks when bolden was hurt. mcgloin and the blocked punt are the reason they lost today, florida had no business winning that game

I think I counted 7 on D for the Tide, plus McElroy and Richardson on O. #2 overall recruiting class, and Nick Saban......Uhh can you say worse loss in Beaver Stadium history for the Little Lions?

I was moreso trying to make a point about your coaching situation not your schedule. I just picked the first two teams on it. Also, Temple more than likely would have beaten Pitt this year. They beat your conference champ by a few td's.

Anyways, I was trying to get a discussion about Bolden with Penn State fans and you nerds littered it with this garbage. Nice work.

I liked the move to McGloin. Bolden wasn't ready to go and all that would have resulted from playing him all year would have been a lack of confidence for the future. McGloin energized an offense that had absolutely no energy when Bolden was behind center. If Bolden was QB, Penn State would have scored over 10 points against Ohio State, Michigan State, or Florida. They probably would have lost the Michigan and Northwestern games as well. You can't just look at stats when comparing QB's an offense that was stagnant at the beginning of the year put up some pretty impressive numbers for a Paterno coached team in the second half of the season. I am excited about the QB race next year because unlike this year it will be between 2 guys that actually have some big game experience and a third guy that is extremely talented and has a year in the system behind him.
