Nations Longest Winning Streak Ends...

Post by tubmill »

The UConn Huskies stopped the nations longest winning streak at 18 tonight when they squeaked past the Panthers of Pittsburgh 68 - 65. Although Pitt was defeated, I believe they opened up a lot of peoples eyes and gained much needed respect. They proved that they are one of the nations elite teams and that they can play with the best of them! They face another enormous task when they travel to Syracuse to face the Orange on Saturday.

I agree they are a tough team, they proved it last night. But I really don't think they deserved a ton of respect until last night. If you look at their schedule it was extremely weak until they hit their conference schedule. Of their first fifteen games only one was away and it myswell have been at home because it was against Duquesne. I'm not a Pitt fan but I do like the way they play because they aren't the most talented team, but they are very tough. Even though they didn't play a tough schedule up till conference I still think they are good.

Actually, several of the teams the Panthers played out of conference are decent. They beat Florida State. The 'Noles are 13 - 5 and have defeated Maryland and North Carolina. They defeated Alabama. The Tide is presently 11 - 4. The Panthers destroyed Georgia. Now the Dawgs record is only 9 - 6. However since their loss to Pitt, the Bulldogs have beaten Georgia Tech and Kentucky.

Pitt Is drilling Syracuse right now by about 15 16 points. This Pitt team looks like they are for real. ALthough Syracues is not as good as they were last year still Pitt is pretty good.

Pitt manhandled the Cuse by 21 points. The Panthers seem to improve every game. Jamie Dixon is doing an outstanding job. Pitt is going to surprise people come Big dance time!

I don't think Pitt will 'surprise' anyone. Everyone already knows they are a good team and are capable of playing with anyone in the country. A 'surprise' team is a team that comes out of nowhere and knocks a few teams off, not a team thats already ranked.

FSU has also added Wake Forest(No. 10) to their list of ranked teams that they've beaten. They will crack the next top 25 at around #21 or 22.

Untill they play the juggernauts in Reddick and Deng for the Bluedevils. Oh and the little student section called the Cameron Crazies. January 29th, 9:00 p.m. more than likely on ESPN.
