McCort moves on to play Tussey the D5 champ? They lost buddy. And two sentences later you claim North Star to be the D5 Champion. I mean really?

Richland beat top seed Bellwood? No, they were the two seed, McCort beat the top seed.

Really? McCort was an underdog against #13 seed Penn Cambria and #12 seed Central Cambria.

A couple of questions:
1. Paul Rossman? Why did he cover this game? He writes for the Indiana Gazette. Here's his website. Did Osborne St. and Richland Township move to Indiana county when I wasn't paying attention? As far as I can tell he only wrote one other article about any teams from the Johnstown area this season.

2. Mastovich covered the Generals game, but where some of the other writers? Petrunak, Curtis, or Buriak? Where did he get that Bellwood was the 1 seed? Just look at the bracket! I knock Cory Isenberg as much as the next guy, but she covered 3 games yesterday at two different sites. Kudos to her. BUT she wrote Jeanette as the WPIAL 7th seed to play Tussey Mountain though? Come on, Cory! :lol:

3. Why were both articles about the girls and boys finals titled “District 6-AA finalists have few secrets”? Maybe it showed up formatted in the paper. I wouldn’t know, I don’t subscribe to the Tribune anymore. Waste of money. In terms of seeding I can see where she’s coming from with McCort the 4 seed and Richland the 6 seed. I guess it depends on what you believe constitutes an underdog.


Crimson, you’re a good writer. You do write-ups and previews that remind me of the Mirror’s. I’d suggest applying for an internship/job at the Tribune, but I think you’d be better off somewhere like Greensburg, Altoona, or Pittsburgh.

Its just the Tribune doesn't have a lot of substance, what usually a 2-3 page Sport page? So why not have better content?

6aa and 6a was weak this year anyway and that is probably why noone wanted to cover them because the top seeds in 5aa and 5a would beat these teams. Mccort and richland may be decent around here, but they don't compare to the other schools they will face. When 5aa and 5a are as good as 6a and 6aa you know your teams are hurting!!! north star, tussey, southern fulton, and shade would beat any of these 6a and 6aa teams around here.

Trust me, North Star and Tussey Mountain wouldn't want to play Bishop McCort now. They're lucky they got to play them when they did. And its all for not, because Tussey is going to lose by 40 on Tuesday. I agree I think North Star will beat Richland.

I don't know if I'd say that, I mean McCort did lose to Tussey and NS this year. But, they lost to Tussey by 5 and NS by 6, and those were in their second and fourth games of the year and McCort has improved immensely since then. So are those schools good? Yes indeed they are. Would they beat anyone out of D6, they could but I don't think that I'd say they would for certain.

Richland and mccort did get better as the season went on and the coaches for those teams did seem to get the best out of the kids and make them believers again that they can be good again. It is hard to say who would win now, but I am surprised the smaller schools would even compete with these bigger schools!!! Shade got knocked off by southern fulton because of a great game plan, but shade clearly had the better kids, but that coach mesmarized(spelling?) shade into giving up easy layups and wearing them down using 1;30 of the clock each possession. Shade is a run and gun team, and got beat by a coach that ran his game plan to perfection! D-5 wrestling didn't fare well to d-6 and d-7. Even baseball these d-6 schools would beat the d-5. I just don't know what happened to d-6 in hoops??? Was it the coaches??? They have to have enough kids out to make a good enough team.

Well saying they'd be able to beat these "bigger" schools is a bit of false statement, I mean yes McCort and Richland are bigger in size but McCort is still a small single A school i mean my graduating class had 98 kids last year and Richland is the smallest AA school in D6. And I think this is just a down year for D6 in bball alot of teams in rebuilding years, look at McCort they run 8 deep with only 3 of them being seniors. Richland also plays a decent amount of underclassmen, it was a bit of a down year for D6 bball in AA but at the same time in many aspects they are rebuilding years for teams such as the Crushers and Rams. But head to head right now I'd take McCort over NS or Tussey with the way the Crushers have played of late, and I'd most likely take Richland too. I guess we shall see this week when NS plays Richland.

I'm not saying they haven't improved because everyone improves as the season progresses, at least any team thats good, but not many teams if any teams have made the strides this season McCort has. NS vs Richland will be a great game up at UPJ on Saturday I'm looking forward to it. And I hope like heck Tussey knocks off Beaver because one it makes the area look good, and two if they play McCort that on top of Richland playing NS will help settle this debate. Regardless all four of them are very good teams, deserving of being where they are, and hopefully the NS/Richland winner and either McCort or the McCort/Tussey winner can make some noise in states. And as for McCort being a small school, since I don't wanna argue it with you I'll take your advice and leave it out. :lol:
