Best quarterbacks in the area

Make your picks. Who will show up in the top 5 in passing yards in the Altoona Mirror at the end of week 10? Will any quarterbacks run for over 600 yards?

1. Simon (J-town)- He won't show up in the Mirror because he's not in their coverage area, but has mad talent and was # 8 in PA in passing last year, don't know if he'll need to but could easily go over 600 yds rush.
2. Frye (Clearfield)- lost some of the talent he's had the past few years around him so he will probably have to throw more than before , which was a good bit anyway.
3. Franco(Tyrone) - with all the speed around him, his numbers may drop from last year, dad won't score like Switzer or Spurriers teams of the 90's.
4. Hengst (Ridge)- really talented kid with 1000/1000 potential, biggest question will be how much help will he get, if a few teamates emerge, he could have a huge year.
5. toss-up....Richland/ Heights qb, one because they will throw a bunch, the other because they'll have to throw a bunch.

Why is it pathetic? 3 of the 1st 4 mentioned(possibly 4/5) will be playing D1 ball next year...you wanna plug him in at #5 go ahead, but I will wager the farm that he isn't better than the 1st 4 I mentioned.

Straisser is right there will all of them. I have seen all in person (except Frye) and all are good, Max is a wonderfully gifted athlete for sure. Good luck to all of them

None of the kids mentioned have a shot to play d-1 at qb! You guys don't know how hard it is to make d-1! And especially at qb! These kids are good athletes, but d-1??? At qb??? Cooper and bryja will be decent at the high school level next year also! And straisser is the real deal at qb, but not at d-1 either. All the kids mentioned will make it at a d-2 school maybe and not even at qb possibly!

Hengst at #4 is a possible D1 prospect? No way man. He reminds me a lot of Ian Sayler but no where near the speed. Nothing against him but Straisser is a lot better QB than him especially as a pure passer.

I agree with you 100% bb that saylor was better than hengst and way faster and didn't make it to d-1! Hengst is a great athlete though, and he is coming into his senior year after a great jr. year! Yeah, saylor and hengst aren't pure passers like straisser! That kid has an arm and puts the ball on the money better than any high school kid I have seen in awhile and it isn't his bro that makes him look good because he hit revak and miller(the tend) along with watkins and friedline alot. He was good and made the right reads. He beat berlin himself last year by running the ball also along with his great passing, but he does look to throw first and hengst and sayler looked to run it alot more!

Excuse me, 1st I didn't say Hengst was a d-1 qb prospect, but I think he has d1 ability, db maybe. As for the other 3 , Franco already accepted an off from Akron to play qb, Frye is being pursued hard by JMU(believe they beat Tech last year in Blacksburg) and is fielding calls from Syracuse and Pitt although I don't know if those 2 have offered yet. And get real if you think Simon won't be on a field in front of alot of people on Saturdays next year. So we all will await Berlin to roll Clairton or Rochy on their way to Hershey in Decenber, ca't wait.
