ICC Week 4

Post by rainmaker »

6-0 last week moves me to 15-4 on the year.

Williamsburg @ Northern Bedford
Williamsburg has had all sorts of trouble stopping the pass. Southern and Claysburg threw all over them and Mo Valley ran all over them. The Panthers have rebounded nicely after an opening season loss to Mo beating Glendale and Everett. Preston Albright ran for nearly 2,000 yards a year ago and this season they seem to be doing alright with Matt Sollenberger who has ran for around 400 yards. The Panther defense has been very good through 3 games allowing 20 points.
NBC- 42 Williamsburg 0

Glendale @ Mo Valley
The Vikings rebounded from a loss to NB to beat a baffling West Branch squad last week. Actually Glendale, destroyed them. Mo Valley suffered a close defeat to Juniata Valley in what basically was the semifinals of the ICC North. Three of the toughest kids in the conference will play in this game with Derek Southern, Dylan Ludwig, and Damon Braniff all running the ball. If you like to watch tough running backs go at it this will be a fun one. Glendale doesn’t have the lines to match up with MV.
Mo Valley 28 – Glendale 13

Claysburg @ Juniata Valley
CK was terrific defensively vs. Tussey and Williamsburg, but then they met Bellwood and the tide started to turn. This Bulldog team has some tough kids with Dodson and Ickes as leaders, but they can’t match up with Morrison and Weicenberg. JV can’t afford a slip up if they want to play for an undefeated season and a shot at the Blue Devil machine. They won’t.
JV 33 – CK 13

Tussey Mountain @ Everett
The Warriors and Titans are both 0-3. I think either team is good enough to win 4 games and make the playoffs though, but the loser of this game probably has no shot. Something has got to give. Tussey might have a little bit more of an offensive identity right now, so I’ll give them the slight edge. Everett is big and if they can run right at the Titans, they should come out on top. Since CK couldn’t run on TM, I don’t think Everett can.
TM 20 – Everett 7

West Branch @ Bellwood
This had game of the week written all over it, then West Branch had to play Glendale. The Blue Devils keep on cruising and West Branch heads back to reality. The biggest question of the week is this- Can West Branch stay within 20 points? For many teams this is a confidence booster against Bellwood. West Branch needs to avoid a blowout so they can rebound in the final 5 games and shoot for a playoff birth. Slippey and Speigle are studs, but Maxpreps shows them having only 21 guys. They must have the right 21 on the team and they cut some of the fat, but they need more guys than this to compete.
Bellwood 36 -- West Branch 19

GAME OF THE WEEK
Mt. Union @ Southern Huntingdon
Will the real Trojan squad please stand up? They beat Huntingdon, lose to West Branch, and squeak by Tussey. Wait what??? House is their man and everyone knows it. If teams stop him Abrashoff and the passing game have to do their thing. Southern started off 0-2, but they have looked tough even in their losses. Last week, they blew away Williamsburg. This game might be an elimination game in the ICC South as the winner likely plays NBC for the crown. There is a lot of football to be played to get us to this point, but that’s what it looks like from here. Southern found a quarterback and good things have happened for them. Give me the Rockets in a mini-upset because they’ll hit a 40+ yard field goal at some point.

It should be a good one. Both teams will probably be coming out fired up for a big rivalry game. I can't speak much on it really, as I haven't followed much of what they have done out there. I know what we can do and what we're capable of. If we play with the fire and intensity we did against Huntingdon, we should win this one. If we come out flat, we're going to be in a world of trouble. I fully expect coach Hartman to have our boys well prepared and fired up for the neighboring Rockets. Expect a shootout.

Nice post rainmaker. I agree with your picks except I think Claysburg could play closer with JV. I think Everett and Tussey will come down to extra points/conversions.
