I don't think they need to find a solution...
You have good years and you have bad years. It's that simple.
I think the kids from Portage learned a valuable lesson this past season.

I think they will be competitive next year.

Say what you want about Gouse but Portage has one of the best if not the best coaching staff in the WestPac.

I watched Portage every game this season and It was absolutely a growing pains year for the Mustangs. Like SRV said you'll just sometimes have these years even in the better programs in the area. To ME the biggest glaring problem was Portage's staple Wing T run game just never was able to sustain itself all season with any consistency. With two sophomores and one freshman starting on the O-Line last year they can do nothing but improve. They'll have to replace skill players in Bimle and Kreutzberger but as usual have some nice looking underclassman who have seen some spotty fill in time to finally take over the starting roles. QB Jake Bryja will be replaced by his younger brother Michael Bryja who was injured all last year with a growth plate fracture that happened in their first scrimmage.

Ya it basically depends on which game you watched. Neel(So.) Beyer(So.) and Vocco(Fr.) were getting a ton of playing time on the O-Line after the Blacklick Valley game. Neel moved to Portage from West Virginia at the beginning of the season and wasn't cleared to play till the BV game. As for who will fill in for Bimle and Kreutzberger......Definately the one Z back spot(Bimle's) will belong to Evan Price who played a bit last year (56 Carries 385 Yards 5 TD's, 12 Receptions 155 Yards 1 TD). The "fullback" position is an going to be an open battle....It's very possible that one of the Kephart boys will take that role over now that they're back at Portage.

A bad season at Portage (4-5)... A bad season at Forest Hills (8-3), Tyrone (9-2), Bellwood Antis (7-2)... just saying.

JayJay,
The teams you mentioned are all outside the WestPac.
The Mustangs play in the WestPac (based on prior rules 4-5 is almost a playoff season).

They finished 6th in the WestPac but have what... 3 WestPac titles in 6 years? Something like that...
They will bounce back. 4-5 in the WestPac keeps you in the middle considering almost 50% of your teams will be lucky to win 3-4 games.

Relax dude.

Teams in WestPac are lucky to win 3 or 4 games and 4-5 keeps you middle of pack and we consider 3 westpac titles in 6 yrs something to be proud of which you should brag about winning a conference but dont downplay it saying how bad teams are then say how good your team is for winning 3 titles in 6 yrs...................westpac anybody in favor of renaming it weakpac?
