Previewing the Baseball Teams in District 2/4- Help us out!

Post by Coach »

Here is what we are looking for...

Team by Team previews. It would be amazing if we could built a huge database of as many of the teams in PA as possible. When playoffs roll around it would be a great way to get info about other schools, etc. So, let's get this started. I feel that following the format below will help us create a simple, uniform system for everyone to use. After looking at what would be a good format see my sample post below!

Team Name:
Town/Stadium info:
Head Coach:
Top pitchers (with info- fastball speed, scholarship offers, pitches, etc):
Top hitters (with info):
Top newcomers:
General info:

Team Name: Acme Cannons

Town/Stadium info: Acme, PA- Turf with lights. Short porch to right, with a higher wall in left. Great seating behind home plate.

Head Coach: Elmer Fudd, 5th season

Top pitchers: Bugs Bunny (R)- low to mid 80s, plus curveball, Alex Trebeck (L)- high 70s, pretty good junkballer

Top hitters: Porky Pig (R)- just a junior he hit 15 HR's as a sophomore, getting looks from Akron, Maryland, and Coastal Carolina. Nasty Nate (R) - superb leadoff hitter with a great OBP. Stole 26 bases last year. WR on the football team.

Top newcomers: Jay Leno- sophomore pitcher. He is 6'3" and throws in the low 80s already. He should come in and be a starter right off the bat. Roscoe P Coltrane- Good hitter, puts the ball in play and will probably start in the infield

General info: The team went 18-3 last year and lost in the district finals. The team returns 6 starting fielders and 2 pitchers with playoff starting experience. The team plays its home games at 7 PM.

Team: Loyalsock Lancers
Location: Loyalsock township-- Williamsport, PA
Stadium: big park, 335 LF, 380 CF, 335 RF, seating down the baselines and behind homeplate
Head Coach: Jeremy Eck
Top pitchers: JR Zack Clark, JR Ethan Moore, FR Kyle Datres, FR Jimmy Webb, FR Luke Glavin
Top Hitters: Fr Kyle Datres, Fr Jimmy Webb, Jr Zack Clark, So Nick DiFrancesco, Jr Ethan Moore
General info: This will be a very young team. 7 of the 9 starters will be freshmen or sophomores. Don't underestimate them though. I expect them to compete for the district title and possibly make a deep run in the state tournament. They combine solid pitching with hitting and speed to form a very athletic team.

Montoursville should be loaded for bear this year. They have a pretty small field and have the hitters to put it out of the park even with the new bats. I don't know much about Loyalsock, but it will be tough to rely on all those young guys.

I think Loyalsock, Montoursville, South Williamsport, and Danville will be the top teams in Dist 4 for AA. Other opinions?
