Portage Mustangs.... Contender or Pretender

Coming off their dominant 32-0 win over Windber last week, Portage currently has the 3rd seed in D6 A playoff picture and finishes off the season against Conemaugh Township (2-5) and Blairsville (4-3) at home, then takes on Homer Center (6-1) on the road. If they win out, which is certainly possible, do you think they will make any noise in the postseason or fall in round 1?

If they start looking ahead like this post, they'll fall flat on their faces come playoff time(If they make it). This team has been humble and just enjoying the journey WEEK by WEEK and playing their butts off TOGETHER. They need to just play one game at a time and let the wins or loses fall as they may. One big victory against a rival shouldn't make a teams season or get them to be too overconfident.

I think Portage wins big this week 42-6 or so and I think they win by 2+ TD's in the weeks to follow.
As far as playoff's it all depends on the seed and who they draw. I think the upper tier teams in D6
will have the edge due to the competetion they face all year.

I have yet to see them play in person but they looked good against windber I'd say contender

Contender in their conference, Pretender in D6 until they show they can win a playoff game. To many times Portage has been in this same position and they did nothing with it. I can't see them within 3 tds if they play BG.

I think they can at least compete with anyone right now, when I mean compete I mean it won't be 42-7. It's still Bellwood, PM, and the two privates right now but l think they can give any of them a game the way the defense is playing. I also have to laugh at the guy who said Portage hasn't won playoff games, from 05 to now other than Bellwood/Mccort what school in 6A has won more?

When has Portage ever done anything in the playoffs? You cannot be called a contender without every doing anything in playoffs. Every year Portage fans think they are the greatest thing since sliced bread but always end up laying a giant egg.
