The thing I don't like at all...the kid's dad. Everyone said he can be a major pain so hopefully JoePa puts an end to that. Later in this he talks about how his son could see playing time early and that Mike Robinson could be moved to defense. That would probably really, really make MRob angry if he would find out something like that through a freshman's dad. Especially when the freshman isn't out of high school yet. PLEASE SHUT YOUR MOUTH DADDY!

All of the rumors proved to be true yesterday, and one of the top high school football prospects in the nation will wear blue and white in the fall.
Rivals.com's No. 2 pro-style quarterback in the nation, Penn Hills standout Anthony Morelli, withdrew his commitment from Penn State's long-time intrastate rival Pittsburgh and signed a national letter of intent yesterday morning to attend Penn State after over a month's worth of rumors that he would jump ship from the Panthers.
Morelli's father Greg said that Penn State football coach Joe Paterno assured both father and son that he would coach for Morelli's entire collegiate career.
The commitment has given the Nittany Lions a chance at landing a top-10 recruiting class nationally as the Panthers' misfortune quickly became Penn State's advantage.
Morelli committed to Pittsburgh in August, but reopened the recruiting process in December. He cited concern over the Panthers' uncertain future in the recently dismembered Big East Conference as well as the departure of several of the team's coaches. He was also concerned about speculation that Pittsburgh football coach Walt Harris might be on his way out.
"I just thought Penn State was a better place for me," Morelli said. "I was depending on Coach Harris being there for my whole career. I can't just commit to a school with no coach, if that's the case. The Big Ten is a solid conference, but the Big East is breaking up."
At 6-foot-4, 210 pounds, Morelli is lauded as having the strongest arm in the nation. Going to high school outside of Pittsburgh, he said many in the community pushed him to commit to the Panthers, but Penn State was simply a better fit.
"Everybody out here was pushing me to go to Pitt," Morelli said. "I went up to Penn State and had a great time. They showed me everything I needed to see. I liked the academics. I liked how everything was real close to campus. It's a real college life, and I like that."
The chance to play early was paramount for Morelli, and with the Lions opting not to sign a quarterback for the
last two years, he may just have that chance.
Greg Morelli said that despite the fact that Penn State is recruiting five quarterbacks this year, Paterno told him that several would likely move to other positions. With senior Zack Mills entering his final season and juniors Michael Robinson and Chris Ganter set to graduate after the 2005 season, the depth chart looks promising for Morelli.
The depth chart may open up even more as Greg said that the Penn State coaching staff is now considering moving Robinson to defense as a safety.
"I know with Zack Mills being in his last year, Anthony is going to push him for time," Greg said. "Michael Robinson is being looked at by NFL scouts as a defensive guy. The coaching staff is going to try him on defense. I think Anthony has a good shot early on. As far as competing, he'll compete against anyone. I knew two of the other quarterbacks in the class are going to tight end. Anthony is more than fine."
The Lions also signed quarterbacks Paul Cianciolo, Jordan Lyons, Kevin Suhey and Daryll Clark. Cianciolo and Lyons are the players who may see a position change to tight end.
All things considered, Greg said that his son is prepared to make an impact early when he gets to campus for summer workouts.
"Football aside, both places he thought he could play early," Greg said. "I guess he likes the campus and playing in front of 100,000 fans and playing in the Big Ten. This is a good time for Anthony. It's a good thing for Jay Paterno to get the No. 2 quarterback in the nation. The situation is right."
The news got even worse for Pittsburgh's football program yesterday as Pennsylvania's top running back, Andrew Johnson, withdrew his commitment and signed with Miami.

just read the MROB info again in the Trib-Review from Pittsburgh.
Zack Mills, the incumbent at Penn State, is a senior. Backup Michael Robinson, who will be a junior this fall, might be moved to defensive back to better position himself for the NFL.
I actually believe it could be a GREAT move, MRob was recruited as a safety by most teams to begin with and he just keeps getting bigger. I'd also love to see him at WR because we are hurting there.
My problem is Morelli's dad saying the stuff... Some parents can be such pains. I'd hate to see Morelli's father at a little league game when Anthony was younger :shock:
