Best officials this year?

Post by GODBlessedYahooo »

Everyone has seen a lot of games (including myself), but the teams aren't the only people out there. What do all of you think of the officiating as a whole this year? Who are the best ones?

I think the Ligonier/PM game was the worst game I have seen in a long time. Horrible.

But, having said that I think overall the officiating this year has been an improvement.

The PM/HC game there were NO Indiana County officials at the game. And NO steady crew. They brought in guys from all over and It was probably the best officiated game I have seen in a long time. Great job.

I think one of the big problems is there isn't a lot of officials. So the guy who assigns them has what he has. He can't make them better. He can't make people who are better at it officiate if they don't want to. It would be better if officials didn't officiate in their own district, but again they don't want to travel all over for a check. Example: you go to Penns Manor for jr high football or basketball. You know Tatarko is going to be the official and you know he is going to make 3 or 4 horrible calls to benefit the Comets.

From what I have heard, the officials for PM/HC did an excellent job. It is also nice knowing there weren't any "homers" on the crew.
But also you mentioned "NO steady crew" I think Denny Grammling and his crew always do a fine job. So maybe working with the same people all the time is a good thing? I don't know for sure though.

OMG Please don't say Paul Tatarko in the same sentence as OFFICIAL!!! Or Jerry his sidekick for that matter!!!

I think in some crews it is, and others it's a detriment. Look at my other post. They are locals here and they are horrible. And yes the HC/PM game was excellent all around. Great crew, great sportsmanship from the players to the fans!!! Can't say that enough.

Blueandwhite Fan - FYI the officials at the Homer Center Penns Manor game was a crew from the Indiana County Chapter and two of those officials worked the PM vs. Ligioner Game. Hoover was the White Hat, Lubert was the Umpire and to take it another step, Stefan and Espisito both worked on the PM vs Ligioner Game. Whoever told you that it was a crew from other chapters was incorrect. Totally a crew from Indiana.

rudy, there were only 2 guys from the same crew....and a third from Indiana...the white hat is from Tyrone and his son (who has reffed D-I games) was with him....7 guys instead of 6 which was a great move...the other 2 were from Cambria county....
