Heritage Conference week 10 preview

Post by konjo78 »

Wow last week was full of great games, bad games and huge surprises! Northern Cambria has come out of no where with Suchar to put themselves in a must win game this week for a chance at playoffs. Something that might of been unbelievable just 5 weeks ago. Lets start with power rankings

1. Homer Center - Wildcats won in three categories last week. Penalties, Big plays and turnovers. If you do that you will win everry game. They proved they are a well deserved Heritage Champion.

2. Penns Manor - The Comets shot themselves in the foot last week. Turnovers, penalties and over committment on defense. Yet the comets had some major positives too. They seemingly moved the ball at will most the game against homer center

3. Northern Cambria - The Colts did the unthinkable last week by knocking off Ligonier. Since their star has came back northern has been on the road to the playoffs and are starting to look like that week 1 team that fell just short of beating penns manor.

4. Ligonier Valley - Wow. 3 weeks is night and day in ligonier. What was once a hope to host a playoff game this year has turned into, will we get a playoff game this year. Both QB and WR got hurt last week and that may break the camels back

5. Blairsville - Once the power house of the heritage now has become the case in point on how not to step up. They got destroyed against portage this week and have won only 1 big game against Northern Cambria. This team will need to pull out another if they see playoffs in theri future.

6. Purchase line - Won again, and has a chance to win and make their season a 5-5 one. Something that i would of had a hard time believing after first few weeks.

7. Marion Center - A dissapointing season for the stingers went a little bit more positive after beating united last week.

8. Saltsburg - never known as a football power it will be interesting how next year will go

9. United - Going against BG lions will probably have another Winless season.... this is a sad sight since they were strong just a few years ago.

Week 10 predictions
BG over United 48-7
Purchase Line over Conomaugh valley 35-14
Penns Manor over Keystone 35-7
Saltsburg over Blacklick valley 21-14

Northern cambria over Cambria heights 28-14
Bald Eagle area over Ligonier valley 35-14
Karns over marion center 28-14

Game of the week

I rewatched game tape yesterday of portage vs wimber and Berlin while also rewatching homer against pm and ligonier.

The chinks I see with portage is passing and speed. I think homers qb will have a career day

Anything is possible but Portage has 12 INT's as a team this year which is pretty stout for a Defense that has played 8 games. I know they had a few easy INT drops as well. Speed isn't really a problem as much as tackling has been ESPECIALLY in that Berlin game. That was honestly the worst tackling and overpersueing I think I've ever seen from a Portage team. Whats Homer Centers QB's passing numbers so far this year ??? I tried looking on MaxPreps but they don't have their player stats listed for them.

His stats are above average for a heritage qb but not very many stats. There has been no need for them because their run game. But against pm he made a lot of plays with his arm on 3rd down

I agree, the tackling and pursuit in that game was bad. Doesn't matter what you say though bud. Credit won't be given unless Portage wins or it's a shootout

i think you mean d5 is weak. portage has been the cream of the westpac the last decade and are from d6. it wouldn't surprise me to see this one go either way.
