Soccer and FG kickers
It is a given that FG kickers in the NFL are pretty accurate but I have noticed in the last 7 to 8 years how good the college kickers have become and I am curious have many of these kids played soccer in High school or just played in general. I know plenty of coaches who have a soccer player in a high school kick for them and flat out won some games for them. I remember when I was younger watching college football and even some big time programs had extra point and FG issues. But just curious how many College and Pro Kickers played soccer???
One of the most unique things I ever saw was what Selinsgrove did in 09 and their state championship season. They had an outstanding kicker who also was a great soccer player and the soccer coach gave his blessing for him to kick BUT without having any contact. So on kickoffs as he would boot the ball down to the 3 or 4 or 5 yd line on a consistent basis he would kick off, grab his Tee, and run off the field. TRUE STORY!!!! When soccer was over he was of course allowed to stay on the field!!!!
