The Mount Rushmore project - Northern Bedford
The Mount Rushmore project - Northern Bedford
I think this could be a really fun topic here in the offseason. Here is the idea (as discussed on a radio show I was listening to), who would be the 4 guys to grace Mount Rushmore if it was based on your high school. If you find this to be an interesting topic, start one for your school.
Northern Bedford nominees are absurd I think and I know some other guys will have different names to add. Here are some off the top of my head who I think deserve to contend.
AJ Nastasi - Still has the PA scoring record in hoops and played football at WVU. B33 player, State Player of the Year
Joe Nastasi- played at PSU. State Player of the Year. B33 player,
Jan Clark- 3 golds and a silver at states in wrestling then coached some great wrestlers
Fred Glasgow- absolutely dominating RB, track star, and wrestler B33 player
Eddie King- baseball legend as a coach
Scott Burda- small sample size but won 5 straight District championships as baseball coach. 5 titles in 6 years I think.
Brandon Reasy - 3 top 5 finishes at state wrestling
Rod Hoover- wrestling coach
Brian Sell - did his gig after NB. 3rd in Boston Marathon and an Olympian.
Jeff Batzel- not just NB. Body of work between Eve and NB makes him a contender as an AD and coach
Peter Riley- Tennis standout that played for TM. Gold medalist at states
Zach Pressel- gold medal high jumper. I think all gold medalists are nominees
My initial instinct is to go with my first four guys on this list but I am not sure that's right. I want to see what there say...

Re: The Mount Rushmore project - Northern Bedford
imo the 1st 4 listed are the clear cut top 4.
The Mount Rushmore project - Northern Bedford
Other nominees would include Joe Nastasi Sr, Dale Batzel, Rod Hoover, Chuck Gironda, Barry Crawford, and Lew Ewart.
Gironda wasn't there real long but he really was one of those key early guys who established the football culture at NB along with John Yaccino. Man...this is tough!

I agree, top 4 are pretty easy to come up with. Now if you were naming a top 10 that would be much tougher....

Blake Over isn't done yet but has to be a candidate. Terrific play at QB (Mirror POY and all state), 1000 pt scorer in hoops, 2 medals at states in track and should do well again this year.
