Connor McDavid

Post by Aoki11 »

I don't know if any of you have heard of him. But you soon will and that's a promise.

I will give you a brief rundown: he is a center man/winger for OHL Erie. He's 6'3 185ish. Going to be 18 this year. He scored 100+ points in a limited season due to injury. And he is the highest rated prospect in the 2015 NHL draft, in fact they tried to grant him special player status to allow him to enter this years draft at 17. This proposal was made only one other time: John Tavares.

Why am I posting about him? Ever since circa 2005 everybody has been searching for somebody to dethrone Sidney Crosby as the king of hockey. Names like Tavares himself, Phil Kessel, Steven Stamkos and Nathan Mackinnon were (and are in Mackinnons stance) called the next one. Some popped up unexpected such as Malkin, Toews, Giroux and Ovechkin (even though Ovechkin started his career before). But in my opinion, and it might be a little biased, none of them have lived up to expectations. You could argue for Mackinnon, but he didn't have close to the rookie year of Crosby, and Mackinnon's on a much more talented roster than Crosby was.

Connor McDavid: the true next one. Mark my words, when this kid takes the ice in Ovtober of 2015, things are going to be different. He is a phenom, look up some highlight reels and see for yourself. His passing and sense of where his teammates are is already on par with Sid. His hands are unreal. He is a good finisher when he has to be. And he is a great defensive minded forward. His only weakness is his weakness, physically. He is 6'3 but he is slim, and has proven very easily lnockinf off the puck.

Keep your eyes open for him
