West Pac Week Four Predictions: YTD 14-1
Conemaugh Valley (1-2) @ Ferndale (0-3)
Ferndale keeps its winless streak alive. This one may not be as bad as what they have
been experiencing as of late. I think they will do an admirable job here. Two teams that are
preparing for the future.
*****Prediction CV 21-0
Windber (1-2) @ North Star (1-2)
Windber couldn’t stop portage in anything they did offensively. Winder will struggle this year and possibly for some years to follow. North Star lost to Blacklick which took me by surprise and accounted for my first L in the West Pac predictions this year. I still feel North Star will rebound and play Windber tough at home. I think this will be a very close game with two teams that are struggling. If either of these teams has visions of sneaking into the playoffs, this is a must win game for both.
*****Prediction NS 21-14
Blacklick Valley (1-2) @ Shade (1-2)
Shade has played 2 of the 3 teams expected to make a run in the post season and did an admirable job against both of them. They get a bit of a breather this week and should handle
Blacklick Valley in what I think will be a fairly easy win. Blacklick, however pulled off a mild upset this week at North Star and looks to keep improving. I however, think Shade is a bit much for the Vikings at this point in time.
*****Prediction Shade 28-7
Meyersdale (3-0) @ CT (2-1)
The Red Raiders will shove CT all over the field in this one. The match up doesn’t suit CT. CT hands the ball off to the same back virtually every play off tackle. The question is not how tough the young man is, the question is will he last all season with the ridiculous amount of carry’s being asked of him? I hope nothing but the best for him. Meyersdale comes to town with an enormous size line and will overwhelm CT on the line of scrimmage. This one will not be close.
*****Prediction Meyersdale 42-7
Game of the Week!!!!
Berlin (3-0) @ Portage (3-0)
This ought to be a good one. It will be the first test of the season for both squads whom have
basically dismantled everyone they played to date. Portage is a very balanced team with 2 backs carrying the load rushing the ball. They gashed Windber right up the gut running the ball. Portage also sports a very good QB which seems to have found a nice little grove with the same two backs as referenced above. This all wrapped around a line that returns virtually intact from a year ago. Berlin counters with their own back which Portage couldn’t find any answers for last year. Berlin sports numerous weapons on offense and are a very balanced team in their own right. Both teams will have to open up their offenses in this one and I think Berlin’s offense is just a bit more dynamic. That being said, when all the dust settles I believe the game will be won or lost by the defense.
Prediction # 1- Portage players will have to stay in uniform for the entire 4 quarters
*****Prediction # 2- Berlin 28-21
Good Luck to all !
