West Pac Week Four Predictions

West Pac Week Four Predictions: YTD 14-1

Conemaugh Valley (1-2) @ Ferndale (0-3)

Ferndale keeps its winless streak alive. This one may not be as bad as what they have
been experiencing as of late. I think they will do an admirable job here. Two teams that are
preparing for the future.

*****Prediction CV 21-0

Windber (1-2) @ North Star (1-2)

Windber couldn’t stop portage in anything they did offensively. Winder will struggle this year and possibly for some years to follow. North Star lost to Blacklick which took me by surprise and accounted for my first L in the West Pac predictions this year. I still feel North Star will rebound and play Windber tough at home. I think this will be a very close game with two teams that are struggling. If either of these teams has visions of sneaking into the playoffs, this is a must win game for both.

*****Prediction NS 21-14

Blacklick Valley (1-2) @ Shade (1-2)

Shade has played 2 of the 3 teams expected to make a run in the post season and did an admirable job against both of them. They get a bit of a breather this week and should handle
Blacklick Valley in what I think will be a fairly easy win. Blacklick, however pulled off a mild upset this week at North Star and looks to keep improving. I however, think Shade is a bit much for the Vikings at this point in time.

*****Prediction Shade 28-7

Meyersdale (3-0) @ CT (2-1)

The Red Raiders will shove CT all over the field in this one. The match up doesn’t suit CT. CT hands the ball off to the same back virtually every play off tackle. The question is not how tough the young man is, the question is will he last all season with the ridiculous amount of carry’s being asked of him? I hope nothing but the best for him. Meyersdale comes to town with an enormous size line and will overwhelm CT on the line of scrimmage. This one will not be close.

*****Prediction Meyersdale 42-7

Game of the Week!!!!

Berlin (3-0) @ Portage (3-0)

This ought to be a good one. It will be the first test of the season for both squads whom have
basically dismantled everyone they played to date. Portage is a very balanced team with 2 backs carrying the load rushing the ball. They gashed Windber right up the gut running the ball. Portage also sports a very good QB which seems to have found a nice little grove with the same two backs as referenced above. This all wrapped around a line that returns virtually intact from a year ago. Berlin counters with their own back which Portage couldn’t find any answers for last year. Berlin sports numerous weapons on offense and are a very balanced team in their own right. Both teams will have to open up their offenses in this one and I think Berlin’s offense is just a bit more dynamic. That being said, when all the dust settles I believe the game will be won or lost by the defense.

Prediction # 1- Portage players will have to stay in uniform for the entire 4 quarters

*****Prediction # 2- Berlin 28-21

Good Luck to all !

Refer to pages 6-8 under Week three scores as this is the only information I have on the subject!

He is telling you that berlin is no windber, ferndale, cv, ns, or blacklick which the game was over in the first quarter. The starters will have their pads on for 4 quarters vs berlin unlike the windber game where the starters came out for the 2nd half without a full uniform. People got offended by that! Maybe rubbing it in a little different way. You never should take your uniform off during any game. When I played coaches made u keep ur uniforms on til u got to the locker room. U could get rocks thrown at you and get hurt when playing away is an example. This should be a hard fought game and I wish both teams luck and hopefully a injury free game with good sportsmanship.

Yeah I think having them take off their uniforms was in poor taste. Sends a bad message across the field, but on your own sidelines too.

What the people in Portage now throw rocks at their own players? I remember a game in the early 70's where the Laurel Valley players and band had rocks thrown at them in Portage

Ok I'll explain it one more time NO ONE came out of the locker room for the second half without their FULL uniform on. There was ZERO disrespect or anything else shown towards Windber in a couple of starters who sat the entire second half that let their helmets on the benches in the back. Also maybe two or so of them took their shoulder pads off but still had their jersey, pants, thigh, hip pads on so please lets stop blowing this out of proportion like it has been. I've asked a few mutual friends and ex competitors about the subject since some people are bothered about it and NOT ONE said he would have cared or felt disrespected, and have taken tape, some pads and helmet off in similar situations themselves so different strokes for different folks I suppose. I respect everyone's outlooks and opinions in here so keep em coming.

PLDragons24 don't go acting like your Players and Fans were angels at that game either. I'll leave It at that because it's really not worth arguing about 7 years later. lol

PortagePride- Don't care what ex-players or ex-competitors you talk to on this subject, it was a low class move. This is single A football and the kids should remain in full uniform with helmets on the sidelines. Maybe I am just old school and was coached and brought up that way, but again its high school football. Respect the game and the kids across the field from you. Anyone who agrees with you on this, well then lets just call them no class, low class people. Although, I have heard several occasions where Portage has had fans sit on the visitors side and bad mouth them and act like fools. So I guess its like the saying goes, if the shoe fits, wear it.

On another note... Good luck Friday against Berlin, should be a great game to watch.
