It is a "value added" scoring system which does not just show raw scores. In order to score higher in the over rankings (the scores you see posted) you have to show improvement from year to year. If you want to see raw data, I've taken it upon myself to give you a brief snapshot of a few local schools so you can see.

If this were a basketball game and the final score was Richland 80 - Cambria Heights 70, Cambria Heights might win because last year they only score 50 points per game as opposed to Richlands 70 points per game. CH was given a higher score because they improved their scoring percentage points better than Richland did over the course of a year.
Now lets discuss.

that is crazy. the scores that really jumped out to me initially were Harmony and Greater Johnstown.....now after coachcals post and breakdown of scores I don't know what to think. just like that goofy math they teach in elementary school now.

Gotta take these scores with a grain of salt. Take FH for example. They send the most kids to Vo-Tech. These kids traditionally do not score high on these tests. They take the same test as the rest of the FH students. This, of course, brings down the total score for the school. This is not an excuse, but a fact. Some schools are also able to have some of their students "opt-out" of the testing. What are you gonna say? There is some "manipulation" of the testing process which figure into the total scores.

Forest Hills gets bonus points in this category and aids their overall score. Schools like Westmont don't send enough kids and gets a whopping: 0 bonus due to not enough students enrolled.
