Crosby missing from all star roster! Was it the right decision

Post by konjo78 »

Honestly based on his and his teams performance this year i would have to say yes. Malkin clearly deserves the nod a lot more this season, crosby only havint 31 points when he has been healthy is a huge letdown.

Its about time we revisit the player index and see pen fans justify him being #1 still

But Letang makes it??? And (I know it was fan vote) but JOHN SCOTT is a captain! This is part of the reason why hockey will always be the other 3 major sports red headed step child.

Why do you enjoy talking about the Pens so much? There is no point in talking about anything with you really. Pitt basketball sucks, Sidney Crosby sucks, JJ Watt sucks, Tom Brady is fragile, the Seahawks have been overrated for years, Max Talbot is a better hockey player than Crosby and so on. These are all stupid things you have said in the past.

Crosby has been playing well below a level that is acceptable for him so far this year... however he has started to turn it on and resemble the player the entire world knows he is, everyone except for you. Since Mike Sullivan has been at the helm Crosby and the rest of the Pens have looked more comfortable, energetic and just better in general... I'm not worried about what happened the first 3 months of the year and I'm looking forward to what will happen in the next three. I don't think Crosby can catch Kane or Benn at this point but I'll be shocked if he doesn't end up in the top 5 in points. He hasn't fallen quite as far or fast as you would like to believe.

Letang is 4th in the NHL amongst dman in points per game ... it's an all star game and the fans like offense... he's as good as just about every NHL defenseman when it comes to offense.

This is why I called him Mark Madden, he takes what everyone else thinks and goes the opposite way.

Im not saying players suck. They are GOOD players. Just not GREAT or BEST player.

And that talbot quote was way out of line... my point about talbot was in game 6 and 7 when winning the cup he showed up when others didnt. That focusing on who make or break cup teams are not 1st or 2nd liners but usually 3rd and 4th liners.

Crosby has been the most overrated things in sports since 2010.... im a pens fan but ive always felt we could get a lot better as a team if we traded him for depth.

Sid just lacks leadership and it shows in how the team plays. Id wish theyd give 71 the C.

Based on the whole of his first half performance, I'd say no. But when he's one of the biggest names in a sport that's on the fringe of mainstream relevance, it's hard not to put ALL the big names in the game, or involved in the weekend.

Do the all star coaches get to choose "at large" members to the team? If so then he could still make it. This format seems to exist in other sport all-star games.
It ain't over until it's over.

Your comment was something about being an all around better player b/c Talbot plays defense or something dumb like that. Just because someone scores two big goals doesn't mean he "showed up" and others didn't.

I'm sure he is probably happy to not be involved... a few days rest at this point in the season is much more welcomed than being part of a carnival.

At this point in my life, I could give two shits about the all star game. It's an unnecessary extra that's more tradition than anything. I use to get giddy at seeing all the different possible combinations of stars and rosters that could happen. For the last couple years, and in recent history in general, this game has been nothing more than a slaughter-fest of goaltenders and has just put players at risk for injury all to play a meaningless/unnecessary game.

With that last tidbit being said: I'm happy Crosby wasn't elected to the all star squad, at least I know now that the best player on my team/in the world won't hurt himself 2 months before playoffs and while he's catching fire/in his stride.

WITH THAT BEING SAID: no it was not a bad decision. Thankfully, this game and it's selection criteria is about current year performance and current year performance only, which is a good thing. Those who chose know that Crosby is worthy of an all star selection on any given day, regardless of recent performance, he's Crosby. But they know that for whatever reason, he at a turd for the first third of the season, and they didn't let bias influence them. I respect that. Now nobody can **** and say that Crosby is the leagues poster boy.
