Interesting, since a number of years ago, Indiana's annual basketball tournament was known as "Hoosier Hysteria". The Movie HOOSIERS was based on the tiny single A equivalent school Milan defeating the huge conglomerated city school equivalent to a 6 A. Then they decided a decade or so ago, to go to the multi-level playoff system much like Pa., and other states, have implemented.

Here is a summary: Since Indiana went with their success factor the recruiting/transfer/pub-private debate has gone quiet. They have seen attendance at all title events increase, in some cases tripling. They've seen more new champions than ever and they had 3 brand new champions last year. Here is some info on it:

His one caveat is he'd like to see them lower the points to drop back because it would keep some better teams from bumping up and down every cycle. Said it's the best thing that happened to Indiana sports.  Also, in Indiana when you transfer it's automatic 360 day sit out. Automatic

Went to the IndianA title games last year, as well as 4 of the 6 PIAA titles. Even without the dome, the atmosphere and intrigue in Indiana is much more present as a fan in the stands. Almost every game was evenly matched. Even the ones that eventually ended one-sided, didn't seem to have that dreaded "Oh, this one-light town is going to get shellacked by the small private from a major city" that you seem to get in PA and Ohio that definitely depresses interest.

And, it keeps things fresh. There's always newer teams making the title games now. The novelty wears off for a team that makes it year after year or many years over a decade. Instead, it's teams that are competing with similarly situated schools of relative equal ability.

The WHOLE REASON for classifications in the first place.
