WestPac Midpoint
How do you think things will play out?
Portage - Windber
Windber - Berlin
Berlin - Ferndale
Berlin - Portage
These games should decide how the conference plays out at the top.
I'm guessing the most likely scenario is
1. Portage
2. Berlin
3. Windber
4. Ferndale
Meyersdale has the good chance to get hot to end the year. They could win 3 or 4 of the final 5 and could get a nice matchup vs the Heritage.
Crossover predictions
Portage-Ligonier
Berlin-Homer Center
Windber-Purchase Line/Northern Cambria Winner
Ferndale-Purchase Line/Northern Cambria Loser
District predictions
Portage will contend in D6 as a top 4 seed.
Windber will be 1-2 seed in D5 with Northern Bedford and is a strong favorite with NB to go to the finals.
Berlin and Chestnut Ridge should be a blast to watch in 5AA. I hope Westinghouse doesn't spoil that.
Ferndale will have a shot to win a playoff game for the second straight season.
Meyersdale will come on in the 2nd half and earn the 3 seed in District 5 A. They own a tiebreaker over NS. Their upcoming game against CT could be huge to end the year.
North Star will be the 4th seed in District 5 A unless they have a total collapse. They own a tiebreaker over Twp, but they lose a tiebreaker to Mey. They will be 4-5 heading into the crossover game.
Township has a shot to get hot, but they lost to North Star early in the year. Currently 0-5, they could conceivably get to 5-5 as they have CV, Mey, BV, and Shade on the schedule. If the run the gauntlet, they can make playoffs. NS probably only has BV left as a winnable game before they move to their crossover game. NS controls their own destiny in terms of getting back in the playoff race after being left out for a few years. Mey has a good shot at getting to 5 wins and they have the tiebreaker over NS. Lots of "ifs" in this last paragraph, but even 0-5 teams can be fun to watch. CT has a shot to turn it around in a big way, their game against Mey probably decides if they have a shot or not. I think they'll get a crossover game that favors them. The problem is they have no room for error, but they've played all the best teams on their schedule already.
Any of you other previewer, it would be fun to see writeups for the other conferences.

Re: WestPac Midpoint
Always a couple games that don't go the way the majority are thinking. Alot of football left though, time will tell how it all unfolds.

Three of the top 12 tacklers in the state play in the Westpac. Even more interesting that windber has the second leading rusher in the state. Weird how they control the ball and Quinn still can make all those tackles.

It's hard to use maxpreps as a guide for individual stats on a statewide scale. A large number of schools don't enter any stats. Especially WPIAL schools.CoffinCorner wrote:Three of the top 12 tacklers in the state play in the Westpac. Even more interesting that windber has the second leading rusher in the state.
