All Conferences are the same
I've seen people on here complaining how weak certain leagues are.
Look at it like this:
Westpac
ICC
Heritage
Mainly A schools fill those conferences. In A schools you have lots of ups and downs. There is usually 1-2 really good. There are always 2- pretty good teams, 3-4 solid teams, and 3-4 bad teams.
The LHAC and Mtn League are different with bigger schools so you see a little bit more parity.

Yes, this happens every year. LHAC and Mountain League are better because of bigger schools. WestPAC, ICC, and Heritage are comparable with a mix of teams, mostly A. ICC has 4 AA, Heritage has 3 AA, WestPAC has 1 AA (Berlin). ICC, Heritage, WestPAC, and LHAC all make up D6 while ICC/WestPAC make D5. Recently, D6 A has been ruled by the LHAC and Bellwood with Heritage sprinkles. D5 A Champs have been mostly WestPAC teams of late, only to lose to D7 Champ previously (one win) or D10 champ currently.footballguy99 wrote:I've seen people on here complaining how weak certain leagues are.

That should sum it up.

I can't agree with either of you. How can you say that the conference has top teams, mid teams, and bad teams when they only play each other. Especially in the LHAC where they only play each other. Until the playoffs start how do we know? A 6th seed or lowest seed from one conference can easily and have knocked out the 3 seed or top seed (depending on playoff structure). Not until playoffs do we know that power structure.

LHAC splits into D-6 A, AA, AAA, AAAA. ICC split between D5 A-AA and D6 A-AA. It's possible for one conference to claim 4 District titles. Every conference has top-middle-bottom, naturally, but like you said Alum you don't know the power until they crossover. It is nice to see crossover games within the same district for a measuring stick.TAHS92Alum wrote:I can't agree with either of you. My point is that LHAC and Mountain League have typically better football because of being larger schools, but comparing most of the Mountain League to most of Heritage just doesn't match up. Tyrone might be able to pummel Saltsburg, but Saltsburg could still be a good A team.

BALONEY. Tell me about the Success that the Westpac has had outside of the conference. Portage has won the Westpac how many times? And in turn how many district titles have they won? Meanwhile Bellwood, Homer Center, Penns Manor have all been able to win A titles in the recent past.
I do think the Appalachian Bowl Crossover that started last year is a great measuring stick for conferences and do wish we could see more of this

One, you can't spell. Two, I never said the WestPAC won district titles in D6. You're just a troll.youngbuck wrote:BALONEY. Every year , same argument here on BC. Berlin beats Clariton one time, look at how Westpac does once playoffs start. Both Johnstown and Somerset have had really nice season recently with wins against quality outside of the LHAC come playoff time.

The argument isn't that there are top, middle, solid, and weak teams per conference. It's that the top teams from one would beat the top from another, the middle would beat the middle, etc. And you could still break it down by classification. Richland has a bad record because they do play several AAA and AAAA, but if they played in the heritage or WestPac they would probably be 5-3 or better rather than 3-5.
Re: All Conferences are the same
Portage hasn't won District 6, but neither has anyone else. Homer Center and Penns Manor are the only schools to win D6 A (1 a piece) in the last 15 years that doesn't start with "Bishop or Bellwood".
CC, absolutely.

Yes, I see now you change your tune. Like I said in the past 15 years Bellwood, BM, BG, and BC have dominated D6. HC and PM are the only other schools to win in that time. You can go back 20 years and only add Windber to that list. So don't talk so high and mighty when 4 schools (3 private) have destroyed the district at the A level. 06 and 07 BM moved up to AA which gave room to two of Bellwood's winsyoungbuck wrote:BALONEY. Re: All Conferences are the same
This is an argument that has been going on for years on these boards. It is an argument that I don't understand.
Nobody can deny that conferences comprised of larger schools have stronger football teams than conferences comprised of smaller schools. That's just the way it is and it's the way it should be and there is nothing to argue about.
Besides, didn't a westpac team come within a touchdown of meeting an LHAC team in the A championship game a few years ago?

It's better to keep your mouth shut and let people think you're stupid than to open it and remove all doubt.
