d-5's chances in the state tourni
we no NS-CT will be a good game .... but where can they go ...
the loser plays either aliquipa or beaver falls ....
the winner plays either jeanett (SP?) or freeport
i think the winner has a fair chance of moving on past the next round ... the loser would have to play a near perfect game to go on ...
what do u all think?

Yeah I'm going to have to agree with WPIAL~Titan. The Pittsburgh schools are too good for D-5 schools to compete with. We played Clainton last year and they killed us. We had probably the best game of our lives shooting in the first have and we were still down by around 15 or so at the half.

I agree....It's a combination of the rareity of 7-5 being as good as Freeport or Jeannette and 5-AA being down. I make this assumption after having seen C. Twp. (don't get me wrong...very nice team, well coached, but better suited for "A" and not as strong as other CT teams who have advanced) and the fact that N.Star is by all indications no more than 10 points better than CT, if even better at all (tonight will tell!). I am being told that NS supporting cast is not as strong this year as they were last.
All in all a disappointing year for 5-AA (unless something shocking occurs over next 2 weeks) as going into the season it looked like possibility existed that the 4 best AA teams in 5/6 combined could have come from 5. Other two highly touted pre-season teams: Everett faded after the holidays and Bedford never played up to expectations.

Hows Shaler gonna do in the State Tournament?? Oh wait, they're watching it.
Just had to get that in....
My thoughts, CT is out no matter who they play after rd 1... NS has a better shot bec.
1. They already beat a WPial team last year, and was very close with another....explain that Titan
2. If they play Freeport, Shubik is familiar with all those guys, by most accounts he was the best player on that AAu team..they've seen a player like bauman in andy byer

Hey
Hey, Shaler plays in the WPIAL...If they were in 6-AAAA, they'd be participating in PIAAs.
NS beat an overachieving Seton-LaSalle team by a bucket in their own back yard last year. Then, NS held the ball against WIlkinsburg, and still lost 41-27. Is losing by 14 close when you only score 27?

Re: Hey
Granted, Shaler could probably beat the 2nd D6-AAAA representative this year, but year in, year out, the D6-AAAA tourney representatives are quite competitive with the WPIAL AAAA teams. Last year they did quite well against WPIAL in AAAA didn't they? :lol:WPIAL~Titan wrote:Hey, Shaler plays in the WPIAL...If they were in 6-AAAA, they'd be participating in PIAAs.
