OVERALL: WPIAL AAAA is 11-10 vs. D6 in AAAA.
Average margin of WPIAL victory: 17 points (7 victories of 10+ points)
Average margin of District 6 victory: 9 points (4 victories of 10+ points)
At first look, it seems the districts are even. However, take away last season's anomaly and the WPIAL is a comfy 11-5 vs. District 6 in AAAA.

Great Stats W~T, I didn't realize that D6 was that strong!! With 36 WPIAL-AAAA's and 4 D6-AAAA's conventional math tells us that 4:36 is like 1:9 so the WPIAL should be winning 9 of 10 games vs D6 just to be EVEN. However, as you have proven, D6 kicks WPIAL Butt in Quad-A as they are much better than percentages should be considering the raw #'s.

Pound for pound, District 10 AAAA is the best in the west. Erie Prep, Erie McDowell, and George Junior have all had top teams while Erie Central has also been very competitive.
Most years, District 6-AAAA has 1 team that can compete with the best in the WPIAL and that's it. Last year was the anomaly--there were 2 good teams in Altoona and State.
How will Distict 6AAAA do this year???
Well, State College will win and get the 6-1 seed no problem, They will play 7-7, probably at AAHS next Saturday. If Char Valley wins the WPIAL, 7-7 will be Mount Lebanon. If Connellsville wins the WPIAL 7-7 will be Upper Saint Clair.
Lebo has a decent team, but they're small and rely on the three. Bill Babe and Geoff Kestler can really drain it for Lebo, but they don't have enough to beat State. USC would be a challenge, however, 2 USC starters were injured in USC's 1st round playoff win and will miss the PIAA playoffs, so it will be difficult for USC to travel 2-3 hours on a bus and beat State..
Things look good for State College in round 1 of PIAAs. Beyond that, I think Penn Hills (already pounded State in January), Char Valley, Connellsville, Pittsburgh Central Catholic, and McKeesport can play right with State College. McDowell and GJR are also formidable.
6-2 Hollidaysburg will play McKeesport (if CV wins) or Pitts CC (if Connellsville wins). The Golden Cakes Eaters will be one and done. They have little chance of staying within 15-20 of either of these teams.

Yes, I am originally from the District 6/ELHACK...and believe it or not, I like to see District 6 teams do well in PIAAs--However, I am no fool. That area generally cannot compete with the WPIAL on a year in-year out basis.

WHat did you think of Knoch tonight?
I told you they were a "Coinderella" type team that upset their way through the bracket.
I think that CC has a real good shot of beating the Knights next Friday night...and I don't think you'll have to hold teh ball to get it done.
As I said, Shoop is a pretty good soph guard and Rupert is a deecent post player, but beyond that, Knoch is pretty ordinary. Proof of this is they did lose 10 games this season and lost twice to a Highlands team that is as bad as it gets in WPIAL AAA.
I am hoping for a 6-2 vs. 7-3 and 6-3 vs. 7-2 doubleheader at the same site, just like last year. North Hills or North Allegheny would be perfect for me as I live 15 minutes from either place. Gateway or Butler would be OK, too.

I thought they looked like they were a bunch of deer in the headlights when Moon came onto the floor. It was almost like they had to shake their sense of awe. Maybe AQ Shipley is THAT imposing....
I think that we have a real good shot to beat them, especially if they shoot a million 3's from 5-6 feet behind the arc instead of working it inside to their 6'7'' kid. Although he looked a little soft to me, he is 6'7'' none-the-less. Shoop was a baller, no question about that, but didn't seem to like it when they pressured him and even got his pocket picked once by Compo.
A 6-2/7-3 and 6-3/7-2 doubleheader would be great if it happened like that again. No complaints about going back to NH here! I'm just saying my prayers thanking the Lord that Moon didn't get upset tonight!
