no doubt that it is one of the best rivalries that i can think of.....but ohio state/michigan is also big time. id have to give the edge to football becauase i feel it is much more popular than college hoops. college ball doesnt need a 65 team bracket to draw huge ratings. but still.....GOOOOO DUKE!

speaking in terms of college sports, i would say that these two rivalries are tops in their repsective sports. i think the yankees-red sox is the best rivalry in any american sport, pro or college. what these two teams do is spend every red cent they have just so they can compete w/ the other. not very fair for many other teams in the majors tho.

I think Duke and NC r the best rivalry in college basketball but i dont think it is in all the college sports. And hopefully NC wins this one b/c i cant take another close loss in OT and it would just be awesome to see duke lose b/c i hate them with a passion.

Duke/UNC is right up there with the Red Sox/Yankees, Steelers/Browns, and Ohio State/Michigan ones, but I would still say the best one in all of sports is OSU/UM, it is the height of both teams season and when a coach is fired just because he can't beat one team, you know it's serious.

Duke and UNC is defintely the best college basketball rivalry, but i'd half to say that Yankees/ Red Sox is the best rivalry in all of sports. i mean look what each team did in the off season just to get the edge on the other team, but the Yanks defintely are the winners of the off-season transactions

i think that duke and unc would do the same thing the yankees and red sox did this year if they were able too. How much do you think that Duke/UNC battles over North Carolina high school recruits. But that doesnt compare to spending millions and millions of dollars just too be better than the other. So i give it to the Yankees/Red Sox.

Baseball is BORING!!! There is nothing better than a college football or a college basketball game. I would agree with the yankee's red sox but its just not as full battle all the time.
With the Michigan Ohio State football rivalry, they play once a year. ONLY ONCE. There is more hype put into this game than any other game all year, every year. For the Duke UNC rivalry, they play 2,3 maybe even 4 times if things happen right in the ACC and NCAA tourney. The Yanks and Sox play how many times in a year?? Unless they meet in the playoff's, like last year, i dont think its a show stopper. Alot of the batteling goes on and on during the offseason.
In closing there is more heart, desire, and passion put into college rivalries than at the pro level. The lesser amounts of meetings plays a huge part in the 'value' of the rivalry. If the Sox and Yanks played 2 times a year then it would be huge, but then they probably wouldnt be rivals. College is better. Way better. Nobody watches baseball till the playoffs anyway.

What about army/navy?? Is that not a huge rivarly, but since the teams are not all that great, it doesnt get alot of publicity. Or Grambling/Southern, the Bayou Classic...Even the marching bands get TV time, how cool is that. Granted Duke/UNC and Michigan/OSU are huge, but you cant forget the small school ones too.

Of course UNC Duke is the best rivalry, why else all the hype. All the memories, the great players from both sides, the tadition, the coaches, without these two dynasties of college basketball I wouldnt have my screen name
