3/18 NCAA Tournament

Post by Coach »

12-Manhattan beats 5-Florida BIG

The "experts" pegged this as the 12 that would beat the 5 (most likely) and it happened.

Texas Tech and Bobby Knight move on to likely play St. Joe's. Tech looks good today

yea, i actually had charlotte winning that game b/c 5 of the last 7 times bobby knight had a team in the tourney, they lost. this will setup a good game w/ st joe's.

manhattan almost beat syracuse last year and could make some noise against wake forest in the next round. luis flores is a player.

maryland looked tired. there were several times utep had guys wide open for lay-ups b/c the terps were winded. gilchrest came up big at the end of the game to inch the terps past the miners. maryland will most likely play syracuse next round. the cuse likes to get up and down to the court and hakim warrick will be a tough match up for maryland. gary williams better get his players to bed early the next 2 nites if they want to beat the cuse.

Good job Maryland, one heck of a game. I had to listen to the game while I was still in my lab, and it sounded like there were a ton of turnovers. Caner-Medley hit a few clutch shots and Gilchrest stepped it up again to get the Terps past UTEP.

I agree with Roadie....Gilrchrist stepped up big for the Terps today. Without him I believe they would've lost. Now they get the winner of the Syracuse-BYU game. BYU is winning 40-35 right now.

the cuse has comeback. rather gerry mcnamara has led them back. they switched away from the 2/3 zone and have gone to man. i look for the cuse to win this one b/c they will be gettin hakim warrick back in the second half after being out the first w/ foul trouble. byu was torching the zone early making every 3 pt shot they took.

also keep an eye on the wake forest game b/c they are down right now and could lose to the va commonwealth who dominated the CAA this year.

the ACC teams had better step it up a notch. Wake looks like they are going to escape this one.....but way too close for comfort.

Yeah wake and Maryland snuck by their opponents, but they won and thats all that matters.

Gerry McNamara had an unbelieveable game today. He hit 9 threes and had 43 points. He really stepped up his game w/ Warrick out w/ fouls in the first half and continued it into the 2nd half. G-Mac is showing that Carmelo wasnt the only reason Syracuse won last year...

Alabama-Southern Illinois was a great game. Alabama ended up winning 65-64 in a tight one. They traded shots at the end of the game, and Alabama hit the last one to win it.

Duke is up 92 -52 with 3:51 left in the game. I havent seen any of it but it seems that they are playing on edge after the snub by maryland last sunday. The outside shooting hasnt been there again but with randolf leading the team with 20 pts tonight it seems the inside game is there. I dont think Duhon played very much if any due to his rib injury from last sunday, hopefully he recoveres for either Arizona or Seton Hall. Mcnamara played insane today, everything he shot was falling. The salukies let me down today, i thought they would beat alabama and give stanford a run for its money but oh well, cant wait till this sunday to see Pitt get beat by Wisconsin.
