beat me to this post. talk about an upstanding human being. gives up 3.6 million contract which would have set him for life, all to join the army rangers to serve his country in response to 9/11. rare these days to see such an admirable figure in pro sports.

What an amazing human. I couldn't believe it when I read that on CNN. For someone to give up the money and fame of the NFL for a cause he firmly believes, shows the true character of a person. I remember when he left football for the military because of the 9/11 attacks, and I wondered how many of us could make that decision. All of us make a pittance to what an NFL player makes, and not many of us would leave behind our wives (he had just returned from his honeymoon when he decided to join the military), our children, and our jobs to join the military.

God Bless to all the soldiers & families that gave up their lives for our protections.

a few years ago at a redskin game vs the cardinals christmas eve i had a chance to talk to pat tillman before the game, he was a nice guy who signed autographs for every kid around

he was a true man of loyalty and principle. before this all happened, he turned down a 6 million dollar raise to play for the rams! he decided he wanted to finish what he started in arizona.

Words cant explain the loss of Pat Tillman. He turned down millions do defend his country, but from what Dave McGinnis said, it was never about money to him, he felt the need to defend his country after 9/11. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends. He is definity a true hero as is everyone who is fighting the war against terrorism.

I saw a reporter on ESPN tonight suggest he be directly enshrined into the NFL Hall of Fame.I believe it's a great idea,but the others there,may not be worthy to be in his company.He is a true once in a lifetime story.He embodied all of what most of us believe,yet few of us admit to,and even fewer show the courage to "walk the walk".And the fact that he refused interviews,or publicity,showed his true mettle.He was in it for us,not himself.We all owe him and his fellow servicemen, a great debt.Thank You! To all of those who serve.

I heard it said by Rush Limbaugh the other day, and read basically the same in today's paper, that we have something like 850 or so deaths of our fighting men since the start of the Afghan/ Iraq campaign. Folks, EVERY ONE OF THEM was a Pat Tillman. How many of you will be moved enough to get down on your knees and thank GOD for each and every military person serving over there and elsewhere to defend our freedoms and principles from tyrants and terrorists and to preserve all we take for granted over here? Get out and vote Tuesday, and remember, you have a MAN in the White House that has a backbone and the guts to show the world that we take a backseat to NO ONE.
